So, music lovers, if you could chose one of your favourite songs to call your very own, what would it be and why? I haven’t thought up a prize or anything, but i’d like to know.

A whopping 1 submission for a suggestion cover song and a reason to register with .Nu (or not). The suggested cover was “Vogue,” which i’ve been working on for months, but i can’t quite find a way to play. To do “vogue” would require a whole rewrite, moreso than “Lucky Star”, and i keep trying, but it’s elusive. The chords are very strange, and those big chunky piano chords in the chours are wierd in any key or tuning. So, a valiant try, but not quite. Anyway, it’s someone i already promised to host :P The offer still stands: choose a cover song for tonite’s Trio and give me an answer to my .Nu dilemma, and i’ll give you your own subdomain at my new site if both answers aid me.

If i could choose one of my favourite songs to own as though i wrote it myself, it might be this one:
out here when you light a smoke on the porch you can hear the paper burning the moon is the only light; in the silence you can hear it turning down over the ridge by the highway you hear the cars come and fade it’s like that out here, you can hear things from miles out and miles away/ out here i make the only human light, i am the only human sound it’s my privilege to lie awake at night and think of what i lost, hope for what might be found out here you find out who your friends are when the darkness comes to kill the day there’s an ache in every corner of the heart for the ones who are miles away/ out here there’s always work to be done and i do what i can came down to a choice: love or run. i ran winter will come and get a hold on my heart and i will long for your touch wonder what kind of fool am i, why’d i leave it if i loved it so much?
i will call you, struggle for the words to say swear that i am working on what keeps me miles away/ out here it’s not as bad as i tell it — got your rocks, rivers, trees
nothing comes easily but what does has brought at last a little peace out here it’s so silent you can hear your heart talking one day that heart might tell you which way to go, and you might start walking/ you know that i will, know that i will – ‘out here’ peter mulvey

wow… proof that north america doesn’t suck. If only we could fend off Bush in the same unified way we’re fending off this evil hag. I first heard about Dr. Laura about four years ago when she was still just a well regarded radio host. A friend of mine who was urged by our math teacher to listen to her came back to class the next day and pointed our that Laura was a huge bigot and that the show was very offensive. Four years later, the Dr. got a teevee production deal, only to be shot done in almost every major market i’ve heard a report from so far. Power to the people indeed.
