I had totally intended for this Demo to be an EP (extended play). In the olden days, they were sorta like ultra-singles that had five or six songs on them. EP’s are a rarer thing these days, mostly showing up as ultra-long singles or as inbetweener albums for indy bands (though i have a definite recollection of a Spice Girls EP coming out a year or two ago).
Anyhow, my demo was meant to be six to eight songs, so i figured that even at eight it would be short enough to be an EP, and so it’d be an EP. Of course, now it’s up to eleven songs, and i’m still working on a few on the side. Sure, i could still call it an EP, but it’s a full length album if i stick with the songs i’ve got. But, i don’t want it to be a full length album – the whole point of this was to focus on a small group of songs and make them really good. What i forsee happening is me recording what will amount to an hour of material, mixing it down in several variations onto several CDs, and then bringing it home to assemble the disc there. Of course, this all has to happen in a week or two, which means i have to figure out how the hell i can get more available memory onto freaking Pro-tools so i can mix more than one song per cd… blah. eight more minutes of formatting…
