At least once a week when going to bed my weary searching-for-patterns brain locks on to the ticking of a particular watch of Elise’s. Said ticking suspends my shut-eye indefinitely until it’s removed by several rooms, which usually involves my frantically scrabbling in the darkness, which leads to her waking up and thinking we’re being burgled. It’s quite a to-do.
Despite these disruptions and my complaints, Elise hasn’t permanently relocated the watch. I always assumed that was because she wore it nearly every day, and didn’t want to displace it from her morning routine. Totally understandable. If i didn’t have a routine i’d barely get my underwear on in the morning.
Except, her morning routine is currently occurring several time zones away, and guess what just roused me from a relaxed half-slumber?
