My tweets of the last week:
- @JettSuperior Gina played me all of the music when it was in the theatre, and w/o the context of the movie I was like "meh." Now not so much in reply to JettSuperior #
- @JettSuperior Between this, their Daytrotter session, & what I've heard on the new LP so far, I'm nigh convinced he's a freaking genius. in reply to JettSuperior #
- Apparently jumping rope in the living room isn't an approved midnight activity while E is asleep upstairs. She described it as "terrifying" #
- The booklet to the new OK Go booklet is wild – all graphs of word frequency, sentence lengths, parts of speech. Totally something I'd do :) #
- One day I will learn to think in harmony just like Kara DioGuardi does, and on that day I will rule the world. #
- Picked up 3rd new Schechter bass; last 2 had unplayably bad action. This isn't as bad, but still not super happy & now don't trust the brand #
- Bass #3 is indeed a fail – all of the hardware is loose, pots crooked, action buzzy. Unequivocal NOT RECOMMENDED for Schechter basses. #
- Also, bad on @musician_friend for making me pay to ship back a useless case when they won't even open a bass to check it before shipping. #
- I am now officially grumpy. I thought buying a bass in November would leave me plenty of time to get ready for studio work. Clearly mistaken #
- @amanda_nan Goes on mega sale on Amazon with some amount of regularity. in reply to amanda_nan #
- Lesson learned: I am not allowed to toast marshmallows over the stove without direct adult supervision. And a handy fire extinguisher. #
- In this crowd just about everything anyone says is rt-able. w/ @amanda_nan @thatdrew @schmidtultra & @mikeyil. Blamin' cancer. #
- Me: "I haven't drank for a while." Nan: "So pace yrself." Schmidt: "I'm the pacecar." Nan: "Pacecar? You're freaking days of thunder." #
- Dude, whoever does music for Applebees rocks. Fine Frenzy, St. Vincent… cool. #
- @yousingiwrite Lady Gaga covers are welcome at any show ;) in reply to yousingiwrite #
- @mikeyil Agreed. in reply to mikeyil #
- I am wearing new leave-in conditioner and a vintage 70s jacket and vest. No matter what, this day is going to be interesting. #
- @JanePitt So happy to read the good news! The Philadelphia Metro also carried a short article on pg2 about Rendell flying down. in reply to JanePitt #
- Just emerged from intensive social media mtg at work. Between that, #blamecancer prelim last night, & @ocelotonaleash I'm primed for 2010! #
- I #blamecancer for the passing of Kate McGarrigle. A dazzling talent, and mom to two of my favorite artists. http://bit.ly/7hcTkV #
- @avarielwings So very sad. Just saw her in a clip from a Rufus Wainwright documentary; had hoped she was on the mend. in reply to avarielwings #
- Charged w/identifying 3 best-practice general topic blogs as examples for an internal presentation. Hard to narrow 10yrs of reading to 3! #
- In other news, checking out "Cosmic Egg" by Wolfmother. Not feeling it – mix not hitting hard enough, wish they had beefed up his vox more. #
- I wonder sometimes if I can still be an effective music critic in a Social world where my own music also exists. Slippery topic. #
- @SarahRobinson haha, my hair is definitely more moist and springy than usual, which is a little confusing. Lots of hair-tossing. in reply to SarahRobinson #
- @SarahRobinson Is this your nice way of saying pics or it didn't happen? :) in reply to SarahRobinson #
- Today's aforementioned hair and wardrobe. Attn: @sarahrobinson http://twitpic.com/yu8di #
- @SarahRobinson Wish granted. Meanwhile, how in heaven's name do you manage to pick one tweet by me from hrs ago out of your stream :) in reply to SarahRobinson #
- @burgerbaroness In a related vein, have you ever visited http://rateyourmusic.com ? Obsessively curated all-music discog. Highly useful. in reply to burgerbaroness #
- Review of VU & Nico offers rare (for me, anyway) glimpse into the Philly music scene of a latter era. http://bit.ly/7LcRix #
- @Chris_Huff wow, bandmate @arcati81 is a tremendous fan of that disc, would gladly be your Nico on a future outing… in reply to Chris_Huff #
- @eedawson Awesome. Gear up for some blaming :) in reply to eedawson #
- Having a very hard time not (in the words of @JonathanMaberry) "shitting where I eat" & putting a few fellow twitterers on blast. Grr. Argh. #
- @gloriabell Have you had a mediating person intervene on your behalf? Is there a professional society you both belong to? in reply to gloriabell #
- @gloriabell If it's still that egregious it might simply be time to call her out by name for the bad behavior. She has a reputation, too. in reply to gloriabell #
- @JonathanMaberry In the beautiful future where it's picked up for series, would you break it as one novel per season, a la Dexter? in reply to JonathanMaberry #
- @AmyVernon Jealous! Just had my first #140conf event last Tuesday. Will you be at the main NYC event in April? in reply to AmyVernon #
- @PAWeissenstein I will definitely be in NYC in April :) in reply to PAWeissenstein #
- Logical Negative to the Royal Caribbean story: Ships avoid Haiti, get blasted for denying aid & business to one of the few functional ports #
- Spent two quality hours with Kelly Clarkson, getting my rough acappella version of "I Do Not Hook Up" ready for @dutreblemakers to sing. #
- Now I think a touch of rehearsal, followed by some cancer blamin' activities. Is anyone bored and in-need of a streaming concert? #
- Meiko's "Boys With Girlfriends" takes on a completely different meaning when I sing it… #
- @thatdrew I need to find a studio-quality version of the unreleased song that's the other half of that one! http://bit.ly/92kuq4 in reply to thatdrew #
- @sifelaver The production on that track is pretty close for what I'd love for myself. Also, catchy as hell. in reply to sifelaver #
- @sifelaver You know, I sent it to E but never actually listened. Doing so now. in reply to sifelaver #
- @sifelaver If you dig this you'd probably like the second album from Duke Spirit that I periodically tweet about. Good Euro-grrl-rock. in reply to sifelaver #
- @sifelaver Acoustic Whirring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxFfBH_iXEc in reply to sifelaver #
- And then I wrote record reviews for four hours. #
- A bit belated, but here's my track-by-track dissection of Adam Lambert's debut disc: http://bit.ly/5hFI9i #
- A sober morning between general weariness & news of Haiti aftershock. Keeping up my vintage winter look w/70s shoes. Otherwise, low-key day #
- This day is moving faster than I am. 11am? Seriously? Fast days can be a blessing, but I could stand for this one to ease off the gas a bit. #
- @RajaniFaye I know, right? A fast Wednesday. I shouldn't look that horse in the mouth. in reply to RajaniFaye #
- @jennlyn81 At the rate it is accelerating I will see you for our meeting in about seventeen minutes :) in reply to jennlyn81 #
- @NorthernHomeFC I actually haven't been yet, but I think @jenniferalyse is going to recruit me for a future trip :) in reply to NorthernHomeFC #
- Medley waiting to happen: Don't Speak into Killing Me Softly. Tell me someone has done this already. #
- @JettSuperior The "la la la" in "Don't Speak" would segue perfectly into "Softly." I'd only do the former if I had someone to sing harmony. in reply to JettSuperior #
- @JettSuperior I may have momentarily researched trying to have a day of layover in your fine state on my way back from SXSW… in reply to JettSuperior #
- @bsbsil I'm a little wary of your web portal after my 2nd quiz asked me about faith (!) & told me I need to work on arts (I'm a songwriter). #
- @bcbsil I'm a little wary of your web portal after my 2nd quiz asked me about faith (!) & told me I need to work on arts (I'm a songwriter). #
- @bcbsil That said, I think your health assessments are fantastic! I feel like I actually learned something, instead of just clicking bubbles #
- @sifelaver @ryandaniel @melissa_shae have fun without me, kids. No meal today, so I'm headed home for real food. in reply to ryandaniel #
- @BrettCoppol I was definitely bummed to see that – one of my favorite working lunch spots in the city. in reply to BrettCoppol #

- Best blog idea/name ever: http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/ #
- If you love thought-provoking links, you should be reading @kottke. Half the internet reads him; the other half steals w/out attribution. #

- @melissa_shae I remember when the Bloggies were cool blogs that everyone liked. Now I'm just old and bitter. (Wait, did that make sense?) in reply to melissa_shae #
- @bcbsil There is definitely a bug w/the Life Skills Strength Assessment. The chart doesn't match my answers, even when I retake it. #
- @transitionaltee You come up over meals a lot. Maybe because I always eat with Twitter people :) #
- Oh, Yma Sumac. You went from a one-off joke by Spike in "Once More With Feeling" to my favorite album to play at the end of an absurd day. #
- Spent this week working on a new comm pitch w/@socialbrown @brimil @katewilhelmi & @sifelaver & it's something I'll be able to SHOW you! :) #

- My main beef w/NoLibs is taking the El to get there. Oh, how I skeeve the El. Last year I took 0 non-NoLibs trips on it. True story. #
- @melissa_shae in the words of a lady I know RT @melissa_shae lamesies ;) in reply to melissa_shae #
- This is my near-medicatable OCD, but I was supressing dry heaves for the entire El ride. Feel like I need a chem decontaminating shower. #
- @Remysbaby blood and guts from a specific person are different than general human flotsam on the El. in reply to Remysbaby #
- @dininka I travel only overland in crossing Market to lower numbers in any other occasion. in reply to dininka #
- Super-excited to see @freelancewhales for the first time! The majority of our Marketing department is addicted to them ;) #
- @Not_Pele this place is pretty sweet despite the sketch block it's on. in reply to Not_Pele #
- @PurpleCar a great reason to lie when you're over 40 is if you are gorgeous & can get away with it. Hmm, do I know anyone that applies to… in reply to PurpleCar #
- In the afterglow of 1 of the most fantastic indie bands I've ever caught live, @freelancewhales. They're going to blow up in 2010 guaranteed #
- @suzymags Freelance Whales are playing at SxSW! If only I'd stop hedging and buy my ticket… #

- @melissa_shae Total love. Like a mashup of the best bits of Arcade Fire, Mates of State, Fun, & a ton of other bands I enjoy. Also: so cute in reply to melissa_shae #
- @melissa_shae You should grab that free Fooling April album I just posted, it's pretty awesome so far. Ben Folds Fiveish in reply to melissa_shae #
- @melissa_shae Is he processed the hell out of on the album, or does he really sing that well and just cannot aim his mouth at the mic live? in reply to melissa_shae #
- The new songs from this fall seem to be done brewing … all of a sudden rocking and making sense. Hello, new set lists! #
- @HumanFolly Nice to meet you & congrats on emerging from GMATs alive! Looking forward to your tweets. You can DL me @ http://bit.ly/pmbbdv01 in reply to HumanFolly #

- @caffination Just a note to say I'm following – always happy to meet other Philly tech heads, especially on the heels of criticizing Bono :) in reply to caffination #
- Gawker's excerpts from the final Conan show made me realize that if I had tv I would have probably watched him. http://bit.ly/7hrp73 #
- @not_pele RT @eisley Did anyone see that we have two new tracks up on myspace? 'Ambulance' & 'The Valley' http://www.myspace.com/eisley/ #
- Check it out! St Vincent in Philly at First Unitarian Church on 2/25/2010: http://bit.ly/EekwH #
- @inflammatorywrt Sorry that this is, like, the sole topic of conversation with me, but I just got a ticket to see St. Vincent in Philly! #
- I cannot believe I will soon be able to purchase a concert ticket that will enable me to see @ournameisfun & @paramore at the same show. #
- @jerseycoach I dig it for embeds – I just used it the other day for a corporate project. Still have to look into it re: my own stuff. in reply to jerseycoach #
- @mookyninja Just saw the announcement on the Fueled by Ramen blog via Fun's Twitter. I will SO be there. Paramore is awesome live; love Fun. in reply to mookyninja #
- @jayvert Will you be my concert buddy? I don't know anyone in Philly who listens to St. Vincent. in reply to jayvert #
- @Lefsetz No way she was lip-syncing. The missed entrance, the breathing interacting with her movement… also, she sounded human ;) in reply to Lefsetz #
- @amanda_nan I was at KFN last night, @dirtygert. Tonight thinking about MRoom, but A certain @amanda_nan never said she'd go with me :( in reply to amanda_nan #
- @inflammatorywrt I just checked out her website after seeing her on a blog talking about it, and viola. Looks like 1/29 is the only NYC gig. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
- A few years ago I made it to April without eating any pizza. I think I may see if I can repeat that feat. #
- @TVWithoutPity Glee's cast is better than its writing or music, which generally suck. Better than a flagging 30 Rock, for sure. in reply to TVWithoutPity #
- @inflammatorywrt She's playing this TEEEENY place in Philly, the basement of a church. It's going to be intense. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
- Finally finished writing "Dumbest Thing I Could Do"! It took two months to conjure up an ending, but I'm pretty sure it was worth the wait. #
- @PurpleCar Haha, leaves the interpretation up to the listener. I say, "The dumbest thing I could do is be alone with you." The rest, imagine in reply to PurpleCar #
- @Flipbooks Wow, thanks for that. Never knew who was behind it, or where it went. #
- @DirtyGert Sad how? in reply to DirtyGert #
- Finally writing the monster review of Madonna's "American Life" that's I've been batting around in my head for seven years. #
- My monstrous, long-simmering review of Madonna's "American Life" – in a way, my favorite of her albums. http://bit.ly/6THGqR #
- At this very moment I would – no lie – pay good money to be wearing a snuggie. #
- I only confess this because it's the dead of Saturday night and no conceivable person is listening. Is that you, listening? Shh. #
- I thought this song was on David Byrne's "Feelings" but it isn't. Paraphrased lyric: "dogs know they're in heat by the smell on their necks" #
- The song is a sort of tango, I suppose? We played it in the coffee shop, contemporaneous to Beck's Mutations. I was sure it was on Feelings! #
- The pre-chorus definitely contained the words "scent dogs heat know necks." I'm hoping some Google forensics can piece together a title. #
- I know the album was released in 2000 or prior, probably not older than 95. Male singer. Real or synthesized strings. Same feel as Byrne. #
- Having the words "dogs" "heat" and "sex" in this search string are not exactly helpful in weeding out irrelevant results… #
- Could it be that I misheard the lyrics ten years ago in classic "excuse me while i kiss this guy" fashion, and now will never find the song? #
- Officially the most personally offensive song I've ever heard: Katy Perry, "Ur So Gay." Why must she set back gender issues with every song? #
- @timhalperin Your name sounds so familiar to me. Do we know each other in some other context? Do you, perhaps, have a Philly relative? in reply to timhalperin #
- Review of Ani DiFranco's newest Official Bootleg – perhaps her best live release ever? http://bit.ly/5nd7nT #
- If I could get my ass in gear I have a perfectly compact EP of new songs to record, mostly rockers. #
- Listening to me cover "Bad Romance" courtesy of an illegal bootleg recording from @radiocolin. A little too fast, but better than I recalled #
- @marksherrick Haha, just the one. I don't tend to like live recordings from outside my studio, mostly because my guitar never sounds right. in reply to marksherrick #
- @suzi_quzi I had to change the key and do some inventive chord voicings to make it work for me. Best of luck :) in reply to suzi_quzi #
- @FlemingArtists Thanks for the RT! I'm a fan of a slew of Fleming artists – Peter Mulvey, especially. in reply to FlemingArtists #
- @timhalperin I love your website. Nice & flat but still pretty; drives people to follow you on a social network or start listening/watching. in reply to timhalperin #
- My thoughts on the Airborne Toxic Event album. Hint: thoughts are about as positive as the band's name. http://bit.ly/6oJUX8 #
- Has a strong inkling of packing up the laptop and heading to a bar to watch the NFC Championship. Any other S. Philly folks watching it? #
- @suzymags I'd go there in a heartbeat. You better shop for a quality tambourine. in reply to suzymags #
- Last call for someone friendly to adopt me & my laptop for the duration of the Vikings/Saints game. Seems silly to miss my two fav NFC teams #
- My train out of the house (in the form of wife w/car) just departed, and I don't think I'm rabid enough about the game to walk. Go Vikings. #
- I just installed LimeWire solely to locate a soundboard version of "Hanky Panky" from Madonna's 2004 Reinvention tour. Don't judge me. #
- Ugh, aside from the stealing aspect (which I deplore), this is why I hate file-sharing – badly labeled files in crap bit rates. #
- @JettSuperior Yeah, I'm sensing that. Just in the mood to track down obscurities. in reply to JettSuperior #
- OMFG, if one of the next two drives produces another score I am walking to a bar. #
- @Blueskyfox I honestly don't think I've even dabbled in it since 2000, but I caught wind that there is soundboard of this tour out there. in reply to Blueskyfox #
- @marenhogan It keeps dipping in price & I want it badly, but wife has forbidden me buying until I can demonstrate where I will keep it. in reply to marenhogan #
- How to hold your breath like David Blaine. (a particular goal of mine) http://bit.ly/7ZZgJK #
- My review of @LadyGaga's Fame Monster, as a whole & track by track. http://bit.ly/8Hqu6Y #
- Wow, I sure did choose a classic night of football to spend camped out at home alone working on my laptop. #
- @gloriabell Noooooo! I would have so come over. I was openly soliciting for just such an opportunity at kickoff :( in reply to gloriabell #
- @inflammatorywrt The running theme in that review is that the EP is paint-by-numbers. It works ok, but I'll be interested to see what's next in reply to inflammatorywrt #
- @inflammatorywrt I just don't think you're meant for her, at the moment. Happens to me all the time :) She just pushes the right buttons. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
- Enjoying @not_pele's transfixedness with The Wackness. Always the ones I think she won't like … she also loved Moon, the other night. #
