Haul Around the World: Excalibur, Luke Cage, Monica Rambeau, & Punisher as an avenging angel!

November 4, 2019 by krisis

It’s another Classic Collection version of Haul Around the World, shot BEFORE my big move! This was my order from mid-February 2019.

In this order I get to freak out with excitement over Marvel hitting a number of very different gaps in their color collections coverage – the end of Luke Cage’s original solo title, the post-Claremont pre-Davis gap in Excalibur, Monica Rambeau’s solo stories as Captain Marvel and the deeply weird Punisher: Revelations.

Plus… a tease of the next oversize book to hit my shelf, which might be my most-anticipated omnibus of the decade!

In this haul:

  • from Marvel Comics
    • Captain Marvel – Monica Rambeau – visit the Guide to Captain Marvel
    • Excalibur Epic Collection: Girl’s School from Heck (Epic Vol. 3) – visit the Guide to Excalibur
    • Luke Cage – Power Man, Marvel Masterworks Vol. 3 – visit the Guide to Luke Cage
    • Punisher Epic Collection: Kingpin Rules (Epic Vol. 3) – visit the Guide to Punisher
    • Marvel Knights Punisher: Purgatory – visit the Guide to Punisher
  • other publishers
    • DC/Vertigo: Stardust by Neil Gaiman & Charles Vess
    • First Second: Olympians, Vol. 11: Hephaistos
    • Image: Birthright, Vol. 7

New For Patrons: Guide to Captain Britain

November 2, 2019 by krisis

Today I have a solo guide for a character who previously lived in the shadow of a team guide on the site…

Captain Britain – The Definitive Reading Order and Collecting Guide

On Wednesday, a new Excalibur title launched as part of Dawn of X – the new line-up of x-books curated by Jonathan Hickman. In this new series, Betsy Braddock (AKA Psylocke) takes on the role of Captain Britain from her brother who is… indisposed.

Captain Britain is an interesting case because he, his sister Psylocke, and his extended mythology are one of only two major imports from Marvel UK to American Marvel.

(I’d say the other is Death’s Head.)

Not only that, but Captain Britain is one of the characters who has had the biggest impact on Marvel’s Universe. Ever. [Read more…] about New For Patrons: Guide to Captain Britain

New For Patrons: Guide to Todd McFarlane’s Spawn

October 29, 2019 by krisis

Today’s new guide for Patrons of Crushing Krisis is my first guide for a creator-owned comic – created as a celebration of breaking the 100-Patrons mark!

Todd McFarlane’s Spawn – The Definitive Reading Order and Collecting Guide

With Spawn now crowned as the ruling Guiness World Record holder as the longest-running creator-owned superhero of all-time (and with him coming in at 3rd place out of 10 options in the April poll), he seemed like the natural place to begin my guide coverage of creator-owned comics.

As with many of my guides, researching Spawn’s publishing history held many surprises for me. [Read more…] about New For Patrons: Guide to Todd McFarlane’s Spawn

Haul Around The World: Why no EPICs for New Warriors? Plus: Daredevil, Gambit, & more!

October 28, 2019 by krisis

Your eyes do not deceive you – this video is a Classic Collection, since it was shot before my big move!

That’s because I’ve got a whole year of haul videos to catch up on, because this was my order from January 1, 2019. In this order I go deep on Marvel’s peculiar new strategy of following up ancient classic collections with new trades, plus talk up my Gambit binding projects, love of Moon Knights and Lumberjanes, and more!

In this haul:

  • from Marvel Comics
    • Marvel Knights Daredevil: Unusual Suspects – Visit the Daredevil Guide
    • Moon Knight Epic Collection: Final Rest (Epic Vol. 3) – Visit the Moon Knight Guide
    • New Warriors: Darkness & Light – Visit the New Warriors Guide
    • Punisher Epic Collection: Circle of Blood (Epic Vol. 2) – Visit the Punisher Guide
    • Quasar: Cosmos In Collision (AKA Classic Vol. 2)
    • X-Men – Gambit Complete Collection, Vol 2 – Visit the X-Men Ongoings Guide
  • from Image and indie publishers:
    • Image / Top Cow: Aphrodite V, Vol 01
    • Dark Horse: BPRD: Hell On Earth, Vol 04
    • Boom: Lumberjanes, Vol 10

Moving more than 25,000 comic books AROUND THE WORLD (and then down the road)!

October 16, 2019 by krisis

If you’ve been watching HiX-Men Report over the past few months, you know that part of the reason for my relative internet silence is that I’ve been prepping for a big house move!

Luckily, this move is just 10 minutes down the road rather than almost 10,000 miles around the world. No matter the distance, it still involves moving my collection of well over 25,000 comic books.

With this major task giving me major stress, I decided the best way to keep my spirits up would be to make a documentary about the process to show how I moved every single comic book myself. Plus, I finally get to show you my entire collection gathered all in one place.

The HiX-Men Report: Powers of X (2019) #6

October 12, 2019 by krisis

All good things must come to an end and, sadly, so must the HiX-Men Report. Watch our parting shot at Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men epic.

What did we think about the one last reveal that opened this issue? And, is the franchise now destined for better things thanks to Hickman?
