For the next two weeks, I’ll be loosely mapping missing and most-wanted Marvel omnibus volumes every day! Today I’ll be looking at all of the omnibuses that don’t yet exist for Marvel’s linewide event comics like Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet, Civil War, and more!
This post explains titles and potential Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping for entries on the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 12th Annual Secret Ballot. You can vote right now (until 5 April 2024 @ midnight US ET) or watch our mega-length announcement stream reviewing every single voting option.
The poll options in this category were edited by the excellent Dom of X! I’ve known Dom for several years, but have just recently had the chance to chat with him live on the X-Men Evergreen Omnibus stream, which has been a delight. Working behind the scenes with him to try to identify every missing event book and what it could contain was an extremely fun project.
Marvel has done a strong job of collecting their events into omnibus format over the past 20 years, but there are still several events from the 80s through just last year that have never seen release in oversize hardcover format. Plus, there are several events where the main event was originally released in an oversize hardcover that is long out-of-print, which could be re-issued along with its tie-in issues and companion material.
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for my explanations. Or, if you’ve already voted, learn why the team behind the poll decided on these books and titles – including some of my mistakes and regrets as one of the editors of the options on the final poll.
Or… just find some great comics to read!
Remember: These mappings are just my suggestion of how Marvel could assemble these books. They are meant to help you decide on your votes and build your personal reading list, but your vote on the poll is NOT an endorsement of my specific map. It’s a vote in favor of Marvel creating a book with that title or covering that period.

Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: The 80s
Marvel had only seven events with a truly line-wide scope in the 1980s, and all but one of them are already collected in omnibus! We have omnibuses for Secret Wars (1984), Secret Wars II (1985), the 1988 Evolutionary War annuals crossover, Inferno in 1988-1989, the Atlantis Attacks annuals crossover, and Acts of Vengeance in 1989-1990. See the Guide to Marvel Universe Events for all of those omnibus collections!
So, what’s left to collect? Just one non-omnibus event, plus an alternative map of another pair of events.
Contest of Champions Trilogy (1982, 1999, 2015)
This would collect three different Contest of Champions series into one book, all linked by the theme of cosmic gamemasters pitting heroes against each other.
First, this would collect the first ever Marvel Event, Marvel Super Heroes Contest of Champions (1982) #1-3, along with subsequent supporting material from West Coast Avengers (1985) Annual 2 and Avengers (1963) Annual 16. Then, it would add Contest of Champions II (1999) #1-6 by Chris Claremont(!). Finally, it would include Contest of Champions (2015) #1-10, by Al Ewing(!).
(If we really wanted to get wild, we could add in all 16 issued of Avengers: No Surrender, which was effectively another Contest of Champions redux.)
That’s a fun omnibus of 21 issues of material that doesn’t fully belong to any other book. The original 1982 series has showed up in Hulk’s Masterworks line, so we will likely see it in his omnibus line if it ever reaches a Volume 6. And, the Ewing series could be in an “Marvel Universe by Al Ewing” book that collects his material that doesn’t neatly fit into other omnibuses, which I suspect we’ll get eventually.
Secret Wars: The Complete Secret Wars (1984, SWII, SW-2015, SW-2024)
Fans without exhaustive bookshelves who want just the classic events with no fluff love these all-in-one collections. Plus, this would make a perfect omnibus for the end (and the beginning) of a shelf of books by Jonathan Hickman!
This could include Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars (1984) #1-12, Secret Wars II (1985) #1-9, a “Secret Wars III” story from Fantastic Four (1961) #318-319 (likely also including #316-317, per other collections), and Secret Wars (2015) #0-9.
It could also pull in retcon series Beyond! (2006) #1-6, (Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars (2015) #1-4, and Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars: Battleworld (2024) #1-4, which all insert material into the original 1984 series.
Krisis Regrets: Should we have included Beyond in the title here? It’s by Dwayne McDuffie, so I think a lot of mega-fans would be excited to think about it being included in this mapping, but it might have confused many common voters.
Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: The 90s
The 90s are when Marvel and the rest of the comic book industry really leaned into the idea of line-wide events that had tie-ins to many (or sometimes all!) of their comics.
When it comes to Marvel, these events are so universally known and beloved that all but one of the major ones have hit omnibus already – Infinity Gauntlet (1991), Infinity War (1992), Onslaught in 1996, and Heroes Reborn in 1997. See the Guide to Marvel Universe Events for existing collections of all of those events.
What’s left to collect? Aside from the 1999 Contest of Champions mini-series already addressed in the prior section, there’s really just three titles we could see to cover the remainder of this period – and I’ve already mentioned one in a post earlier this week!
Avengers: Operation Galactic Storm
This occurs a few issues into “The Gathering Omnibus,” which simply skips it. It’s wild to me that Marvel didn’t release an omnibus of this material to tie into The Marvels, which was related to its content!
This would collect Avengers (1963) #345-347, Avengers West Coast (1989) #80-82, Quasar #32-36, Wonder Man (1991) #7-9, Iron Man (1968) #278-279, Thor (1966) #445-446, Captain America (1968) #401, and material from Captain America (1968) #398-400. That’s a relatively slim omnibus (it was just a single Epic Collection!, so I suspect it could also collect some other space stuff from this same period, or more issues of Quasar.
Infinity Trilogy Saga by Jim Starlin
As with the Secret Wars omnibus above, both casual fans and mega-fans would love to see the core Starlin Infinity material all in one book with none of the tie-ins!
This would collect Infinity Gauntlet (1991) #1-6, Infinity War (1996) #1-6, and Infinity Crusade (Infinity Crusade (1993) #1-6, Warlock and the Infinity Watch (1992) #18-22, and Warlock Chronicles (1993)) #1-5).
That’s a very health 28 issue omnibus! I think there’s an argument to be made for it to also include Infinity Abyss (2002) #1-6, but that’s not as beloved as this material and would probably better fit with an early-00s Thanos omnibus (which is also on this poll). However, that’s not up to me (or voters) to decide – if this got tons of votes, maybe Marvel would include it along with other Starlin 90s and 00s material!
Quasar Vol. 2 (AKA Star-Blast Omnibus)
Starblast is the forgotten mid-90s cosmic event that crossed through Quasar, Fantastic Four, Sub-Mariner, and Secret Defenders. Maybe it’s forgotten because it mostly centered on the events at the end of the run of Quasar – a title whose hero disappeared for a long time (and has no MCU counterpart).
Rather than map this little-known event on its own, we decided for the purposes of the poll would just be encompassed by the second Quasar omnibus. The first omnibus would likely run to somewhere around issue Quasar (1989) #40.
This second omnibus would include Quasar (1989) #41-60 plus another 10 issues from the full crossover through Starblast (1994) #1, Quasar (1989) #54, Secret Defenders (1993) #11, Namor the Sub-Mariner (1990) #46-47, Fantastic Four (1961) #385, Namor the Sub-Mariner (1990) #48, Fantastic Four (1961) #386, Starblast (1994) #2, Quasar (1989) #55, Starblast (1994) #3, Quasar (1989) #56, Starblast (1994) #4.
Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: The 00s
Marvel Events returned in the mid-00s for Marvel, cresting in popularity with titles like House of M and Civil War. Marvel released almost all of these events in an initial oversize hardcover.
That meant for over 15 years we assumed they would never be recollected into an omnibus… because Marvel never did that. That didn’t stop voters on past Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus polls, but it didn’t seem likely that those books would ever exist.
That all changed with Marvel releasing a massive House of M omnibus in 2023! Now we have a reason to believe these massive, massively popular events might all see release in omnibus format! Let’s take a look at what that could include.
We Missed It: Maximum Security
None of us poll-makers caught that this 2000 event would be perfect for a single omnibus, because it has never been collected in oversize format and the existing paperback collection excludes some issues!
This could collect the lead-in series of Avengers: Infinity (2000) #1-4, the prelude issue Maximum Security: Dangerous Planet (2000) #1, the main event Maximum Security (2000) #1-3.
To that, it would add previously collected tie-ins from Captain America (1998) #36, Thor (1998) #30, Uncanny X-Men #387, Bishop: the Last X-Man #15, Iron Man (1998) #35, Avengers (1998) #35, Gambit (1999) #23, X-Men (1991) #107, and X-Men Unlimited (1993) #29.
Finally, it could gather some previously omitted minor tie-ins form Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #24, Black Panther (1998) #25, Captain Marvel (2000) #12, The Incredible Hulk (1999) #21, Marvel Knights (2000) #6, Peter Parker: Spider-Man (1999) #24, and Thunderbolts (1997) #45.
Avengers: Avengers Disassembled (includes solo tie-ins)
I covered this one in Monday’s Avengers post. It’s basically the Bendis “Avengers Disassembled” arc, plus related arcs that finished off books of the Avengers trinity.
It would collect Avengers (1998) #500-503, 500 Director’s Cut, and Finale; Thor (1998) #80-85, Iron Man (1998) #84-89, Captain America (2002) #29-32., Captain America & The Falcon (2004) #5-7. You could even justify including Fantastic Four (1963) #514-519 and Spectacular Spider-Man (2003) #15-20, which also carried the “Disassembled” banner. Would it also include some other Disassembled-Era Avengers errata, like Secret Wars (2004)? I think that would be weird, since it would involve combing hotly-desired material alongside a lot of double-dipping.
Civil War
Marvel’s divisive hero-vs-hero event, loved by some fans for its factions and matchups but reviled by others for its gross mischaracterizations. This was in the Top 20 of the poll last year.
The problem with this book is that it’s actually two books – we’d need a primary book focused tightly on the main event and tie-ins that were mostly closely tied in with the action, and then a companion book with other tie-ins.
However, we didn’t want to split the vote by putting both of them on the poll, so voting for this is an endorsement for however Marvel would split up the volumes.
I suspect that the main omnibus would be Civil War (2006) #1-7 plus the contents of several prior oversize hardcovers – Civil War: Avengers (Captain America, Confession, Initiative, Daily Bugle, Iron Man, Iron Man / Captain America, Ms. Marvel, New Avengers, New Avengers: Illuminati, Winter Soldier), Civil War: Fantastic Four (Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Young Avengers/Runaways, and She-Hulk), and Civil War: Spider-Man (all 3 Spider-Man arcs).
Then, the companion omnibus could include Civil War: Front Line (Front Line #1-11), Civil War: The Underside (War Crimes, Ghost Rider, Heroes for Hire, Moon Knight, Punisher War Journal, Thunderbolts), and Civil War: X-Men (Blade, Cable & Deadpool, Damage Report, Files, X-Factor, X-Men, Wolverine).
Yet, even that divide is imperfect, since Wolverine’s Civil War tie-in follows a major plot thread of the main event!
That’s why we didn’t enforce any kind of mapping or “Volume 1” onto this poll listing. A vote for Civil War is a vote that says, “Hey Marvel: Figure it out!”
Dark Reign Companion
Dark Reign wasn’t a central event – it was a massive year of bannered books with a villain-centric theme. Brian Bendis’s Dark Avengers was sort of the “center ring” of this period, so the Dark Avengers omnibus I outlined in Monday’s Avengers post would cover a central chunk of this material.
What else would it include? I’m not ready to map this in its entirety, but some it would certainly include some of a number of Dark Reign mini-series not captured in the Dark Avengers omnibus, which could include some or all of Dark Avengers: Ares #1-3 (& Ares #1-5), Dark Reign Files – in Accept Change, Dark Reign: Elektra #1-5, Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #1-5, Dark Reign: Hawkeye #1-5, Dark Reign: Lethal Legion #1-3, Dark Reign: Made Men webcomic, Dark Reign: Mister Negative #1-3, Dark Reign: New Nation & The Cabal, Dark Reign: The Goblin Legacy, Dark Reign: The Hood #1-5, Dark Reign: The Sinister Spider-Man #1-4, Dark Reign: Young Avengers #1-5, Dark Reign: Zodiac #1-3, Dark X-Men #1-5, and Skrull Kill Krew #1-5.
Even if a Dark Avengers omnibus picks out Ares, New Nation, Cabal, and Hawkeye, that still leaves a lot of books. Plus, there were tie-in issues in almost every single Marvel title in 2009 – although they all stand a chance of being collected along with their own titles (if they haven’t been already).
Bottom line: There is plenty of fodder for this omnibus
Siege
Siege was a much tidier event that the sprawling Civil War and Secret Invasion, with a containable amount of tie-ins that were well-coordinated with the central event.
This would collect Siege (2010) #1-4, Siege: The Cabal (2010) #1, and tie-ins from Avengers: The Initiative (2007) #31-35, Dark Avengers (2009) #13-16. Dark Wolverine (2009) #82-84, The Mighty Avengers (2007) #35-36, New Avengers (2005) #61-64 (and Finale?), New Mutants (2009) #11, Origins of Siege (2010) #1, Sentry: Fallen Sun (2010) #1, Siege: Captain America (2010) #1 Siege: Embedded (2010) #1-4, Siege: Loki (2010) #1, Siege: Secret Warriors (2010) #1, Siege: Spider-Man (2010) #1, Siege: Storming Asgard – Heroes & Villains (2010) #1, Siege: Young Avengers (2010) #1, Thor (1966) #607-610, and Thunderbolts (1997) #141-143.
That’s 43 (or 44) issues, though some of them are double-length. That would give us a chunky omnibus weighing in at over 1000 pages!
Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: The Heroic Age
Marvel managed to squeeze a few events into the brief period between the end of Siege and the beginning of Marvel Now, which is known as The Heroic Age. These three events have never been comprehensively collected on their own… although, for each one there’s an argument to be made that they shouldn’t be collected on their own! That’s ultimately up to voters to decide, but let’s take a look at each one.
Chaos War (Event + Avengers, Incredible Hulks, X-Men TPBs)
This event was an outgrowth of and resolution to Greg Pak’s run on Hercules. Pak’s run continues past this.
This title would include Chaos War (2010) #1-5, Chaos War: Alpha Flight (2010) #1, Chaos War: Ares (2010) #1, Chaos War: Chaos King (2010) #1, Chaos War: Dead Avengers (2010) #1, Chaos War: God Squad (2010) #1, Chaos War: Thor (2010) #1-2, and Chaos War: X-Men (2010) #1-2.
Krisis Regrets: Since this only includes 13 issues – and only 9 past the main event, we should have simply indicated that this would be a part of the Hercules by Greg Pak omnibus (which I’ll cover later in this process). It makes no sense to include on its own.
Spider-Island (ASM + Companion)
This is another event that was an outgrowth of an existing run – Dan Slott’s Amazing Spider-Man! However, I have trouble picturing a Dan Slott Spider-Man omnibus including all of these tie-ins that only tangentially include Spider-Man.
This would include the main story from Spider-Island: The Infested Prologues From Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #659-660 & #662-665, Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #666-673, Venom (2011) #6-8, Spider-Island: Deadly Foes, and Spider-Island Spotlight.
To that it would add the contents of another 16 issues from a previous companion hardcover: The Amazing Spider-Girl #1-3, Spider-Island: Cloak & Dagger #1-3, Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #1-3, Herc #7-8, Spider-Island: Avengers #1, Spider-Island: Spider-Woman #1, Spider-Island: I Love New York City, Black Panther #524, Spider-Island: Heroes For Hire.
Krisis Regrets: I think we could’ve more-explicitly mapped the Dan Slott omnibus period to indicate where would be contained within that run. However, even if we did, I think some folks would want this to have its own entry.
Fear Itself (Event + Companion TPBs)
The main Fear Itself event was a part of Matt Fraction’s run on Thor (and, to a lesser extent, coordinated with his run on Iron Man), so a recent Thor by Matt Fraction omnibus has already collected this main event!
Yet, this was a sprawling line-wide event – so sprawling that it killed the idea of events this big at Marvel for the next half-decade. That means there are so many tie-ins. And, since tie-ins tended to follow one or more of “The Worthy” villains empowered with Asgardian weapons, they all coordinate well with the main series with a distinct reading order.
This would contain Fear Itself (2011) #1-7, 7.1, 7.2, & 7.3, along with prologue “Book of the Skull.
That’s 11 issues to start. Then, it could include 49 issues from mini-series and one-shots! Fear Itself: Black Widow #1, Fear Itself: Deadpool #1-3, Fear Itself: The Deep #1-4, Fear Itself: FF #1, Fear Itself: Fearsome Four #1-4, Fear Itself: Fellowship of Fear #1, Fear Itself: The Home Front #1-7, Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula #1-3, Fear Itself: The Monkey King #1, Fear Itself: Spider-Man #1-3, Fear Itself: Spotlight #1, Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force #1-3, Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #1-6, Fear Itself: The Worthy #1-8 digital series, and Fear Itself: Wolverine #1-3.
That would make a massive book. But, wait… we’re not done! There were also dozens of ongoing series tie-ins, some of which coordinated very closely with the event – like Cyclops and The X-Men vs. The Worthy Juggernaut in Uncanny X-Men #540-543.
Plus, there were some epilogue stories – including Fear Itself: The Fearless (2011) #1-12 (which I think belongs in a Valkyrie & The Defenders omnibus, also on the poll) and Battle Scars (2011) #1-6 (which really has nowhere else to live).
Does that mean Fear Itself would be two volumes? A main volume and a companion? Or, would it skip those ongoing series tie-ins entirely? That’s not for me to decide! If you want to see some version of this book printed, vote for it and let Marvel do some mapping for us.
Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: Marvel Now
Marvel conducted events on a much smaller scale during Marvel Now from 2013 to 2015. None of these reached the dizzying line-wide breadth of the events of the previous decade. And, all of their main event series were released in oversize hardcover! However, now that we’ve seen the oversize hardcovers of AvX and the AvX Companion merged into one mega Avengers vs. X-Men omnibus, it seems like it could be fair game to see similar treatment for these events.
Age of Ultron (Event + Companion)
This single volume would collect Age of Ultron #1-10 as well as all of its tie-ins: Avengers Assemble 14AU -15AU , Fantastic Four 5AU , Fearless Defenders 4AU, Superior Spider -Man 6AU , Ultron 1AU , Uncanny Avenger s 8AU, Wolverine & the X-Men 27AU, and Avengers 10AI. Then, it would add Avengers A.I. (2013) #1-10, which otherwise risks being orphaned.
It could also add a pair of epilogues from Guardians of the Galaxy (2013) #5-7 and Hunger (2013) #1-4.
Infinity (Event + Companion TPB; 2013)
This single volume would triple-dip the core of the Infinity event from its own oversize hardcover and the first Avengers by Hickman omnibus, then add in all the tie-ins.
The core of the story is in Infinity (2013) #1-6, Avengers (2012) #12-23, New Avengers (2013) #7-12, and Infinity Infinite Comic (2013) #1-2.
To that it would add a healthy amount of tie-ins from Avengers Assemble #18-20, Captain Marvel #15-16, Fearless Defenders #10, Guardians of the Galaxy #8-9, Infinity: The Heist #1-4, Infinity: The Hunt #1-4, Mighty Avengers #1-3, Nova #8-9, Secret Avengers #10-11, Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #3-4, Thunderbolts #14-18, Wolverine and the X-Men Annual 1.
That’s 57 issues – a massive omnibus that would be a fun read, even if none of the tie-ins are required to enjoy the main thrust of Hickman’s 24-issue epic.
Original Sin (Event + Companion)
This event would make for a peculiar omnibus, since literally every tie-in has nothing to do with the main event! They all just detail revelations happening around the Marvel Universe as a result of information shared at the start of the event.
This would include Original Sin #0-8, Original Sins #1-5 (plus material from Marvel Now .1), Original Sin #3.1-3.4 (AKA Hulk vs. Iron Man), Original Sin #5.1-5.5 (AKA Thor & Loki: The Tenth Realm), Original Sin: Secret Avengers Infinite Comic #1-2, Operation S.I.N.: Agent Carter #1-5, All-New Invaders #6-7, Amazing Spider-Man #4-6, Avengers #29-34, Daredevil #6-7, Deadpool #29-34, Fantastic Four #6-8, Guardians of the Galaxy #18-20, Mighty Avengers #10-12, Nova #18-20, and Uncanny X-Men #23-25 (and maybe even further issues, which continued the story but did not include the event banner).
That’s over sixty issues of content with all of the tie-ins included, so I expect that some of the most loosely-connected tie-ins could be dropped to keep this in a more manageable range of 50-ish issues without annoying any fans, since those issues would eventually be contained in their own omnibus lines.
Avengers and X-MEN: AXIS
AXIS was effectively just the final arc of Uncanny Avengers, but forced by Marvel to be something BIGGER (which explains why there was another vestigial 5-issue arc of Uncanny Avengers in 2015 following the event).
This would collect Avengers & X-Men: Axis #1-9, Axis: Revolutions #1-4, Axis Hobgoblin #1-3, Axis: Carnage #1-3, and tie-in issues of All-New X-Factor, Deadpool, Inhuman, Magneto, and Nova. Then, it would add Uncanny Avengers (2015A) #1-5, as well as possibly the Avengers: Rage of Ultron (2015) OGN also written by Rick Remender.
It could also add lead-in material from Uncanny Avengers #23-25 & Annual 1 and Magneto #9-10.
Secret Wars: Battleworld, Vol. 2
This omnibus absolutely will be released, but that’s never stopped people from voting for something on the Tigereyes poll before! It would begin with collecting Future Imperfect (2015) #1-5 and continue alphabetically through the tie-ins to Secret Wars (2015).
Marvel Events Omnibus Mapping: Recent Marvel Events (2016 – Present)
After taking it easy on major events from 2011 to 2016, Marvel leaned into it as hard as possible with All New All Different Marvel starting 2016, delivering several of their most-massive events of all time! We’ve already seen War of the Realms, King in Black, Absolute Carnage, and Judgment Day collected in amazing omnibus volumes… but there are two more big linewide events (and two smaller ones) left to cover.
Civil War II
This would collect Civil War II (2016) #0-8, Free Comic Book Day 2016, Accused #1, Fallen #1, and Civil War II: The Oath #1.
Then it would add 29 issues of explicitly-branded mini-series from Civil War II: Amazing Spider-Man #1-4, Civil War II: Choosing Sides #1-6, Civil War II: Gods of War #1-4, Civil War II: Kingpin #1-4, Civil War II: Ulysses #1-3 (which collected Civil War II: Ulysses Infinite Comic #1-6), Civil War II: The Underside #1-4, and Civil War II: X-Men #1-4.
That’s already a nearly 40-issue book, so I’m not sure if it would want to add further tie-ins – but there were a ton of them! This was truly a line-wide crossover. They could be their own companion volume, though I’d suggest pulling the Bendis-penned Invincible Iron Man #7-11 (lead-in) and 12-14 (tie-ins) into the main book since they intertwined so closely with the main event.
The-ins included A-Force #8-10, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. #7-10, All-New All-Different Avengers #13-15, All-New Wolverine #10-12, Captain America: Sam Wilson #10-13, Captain America: Steve Rogers #4-6, Captain Marvel #6-10, Deadpool #14-18, Guardians of the Galaxy #11-13, International Iron Man #4, Invincible Iron Man #7-11 (lead-in) and 12-14 (tie-ins), Mockingbird #6-8, Ms. Marvel #7 (lead-in) and 8-11 (tie-ins), New Avengers #12-17, Nova #8-9. Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat! #8, Power Man and Iron Fist #6-9, Rocket Raccoon and Groot #8-10, Scarlet Witch #9, Spider-Man (Miles Morales) #6-9, Spider-Man 2099 #13-16, Spider-Woman #9-11, Squadron Supreme #9-12, Thunderbolts #5, Totally Awesome Hulk #7-12. Ultimates #7 (lead-in) and 8-12 (tie-ins), Uncanny Avengers #13-14, Uncanny Inhumans #11-14, and Venom: Space Knight #11-12.
Wow! Clearly this could be a main omnibus plus a companion, just like the original Civil War. Your vote for this would be a vote for Marvel to get moving on figuring it out!
Inhumans vs. X-Men (2017 Event)
This event merited a main oversize hardcover, but never picked up a companion volume for its tie-ins. It’s the perfect size for an omnibus!
This would collect Death of X (2016) #1-4, Inhumans Vs. X-Men (2016) #0-6, All-New X-Men (2016) #17-18, Deadpool & the Mercs for Money (2016B) #7-8, Extraordinary X-Men (2016) #17-19, Uncanny Inhumans (2015) #18-20, and Uncanny X-Men (2016) #16-18
That’s just 24 issues, so I think there’s an outside chance this could be the same book as Inhumans: Inhumanity & ResurrXion Vol. 2 (2014 – 2017) (AKA by Soule, Ewing, Ahmed et al), which would be about 36 issues long. We’ll talk more about that when I make it through to discussing Marvel’s team titles!
Secret Empire Omnibus Vol. 1
Even though it’s very likely a Captain America by Nick Spencer Vol. 2 omnibus would contain this main event in its entirety, that doesn’t mean we couldn’t have a very well-coordinated event omnibus!
This could start prologue event of Avengers: Standoff, itself 16 issues.
The main body of the event consists of 21 issues – Secret Empire (2017) #0-10, Omega, & Free Comic Book Day 2017 (Secret Empire); Secret Empire: Brave New World (2017) #1-5, Secret Empire: United (2017) #1, Secret Empire: Underground (2017) #1, and Secret Empire: Uprising (2017) #1.
To that we’d definitely add 8 further tie-in issues also written by Nick Spencer, in Captain America #25, Captain America: Sam Wilson #22-24, & Captain America: Steve Rogers #16-19. And, a lot of this event tied in very closely with The Champions, so I think we’d want to include Champions #10-11 as well.
That brings us to 21 + 8 + 2 = 31 issues, minimum – with the option of including Standoff to bring us to 46.
Then, there are a further 39 tie-in issues. They include All-New Guardians of the Galaxy Annual 1, Amazing Spider-Man #29-31, Avengers (2017) #9-10, Deadpool #31-35, Doctor Strange #21-24, Mighty Captain Marvel #5-8, Occupy Avengers #8-9, Secret Warriors #1-5, Thunderbolts #12, U.S.Avengers #5-9, Ultimates 2 #7, Uncanny Avengers #24-25, X-Men: Blue #7-9, and X-Men: Gold #7-8.
That’s a total of 70 issues even without Standoff – which is why Dom of X labelled this as Volume 1!
There are also a further nine aftermath issues wrapping up the event – Avengers #11, Black Bolt #8, Champions #12, Deadpool #36, Secret Warriors #6-7, U.S.Avengers #10, Uncanny Avengers #26-27 – plus 10 “Generations” one-shots. That brings our potential total issues to 89, or 105 with Standoff included.
No matter how you slice it, that’s a tremendously large event. It could be presented as a Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, or as a main book and a companion. Since the map is unclear, we just included a Vol. 1o on the poll.
Spider-Man / X-Men: Dark Web
See Guide to Spider-Man – Peter Parker (2018 – Present) for information of existing collections of this series. This dual-line Spider-Man/X-Men event was only collected in paperback, but that paperback skipped some tie-in issues – so this would make a perfect omnibus!
That paperback included Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #15-18, material from Free Comic Book Day (2022), Dark Web (2022) #1/Alpha & Finale, Venom (2021) #14-15, Dark Web: X-Men (2022) #1-3, and Dark Web: Ms. Marvel (2022) #1-2.
That’s just 14 issues! However, we could add two series not collected there, Gold Goblin (2022) #1-5 and Mary Jane & Black Cat (2022) #1-5. They both occur entirely during the timeline of the event. Plus, I think it would make sense to also include a follow-up in Hallows’ Eve (2023) #1-5.
That’s another 15 issues, bringing us to 29 issues – a lovely mid-sized omnibus.
