All good things end.
My beautiful high school, the best in the state, home of liberal thought and a diverse student body. It’s been reduced to any other school you might randomly walk past on the street. Metal Detectors. Uniforms. Loss of AP classes. This was the best public school in the city and state for years running. It really makes me realize that i’m a different person now, since the place where i really grew up is nothing like i remember it already. There are students… there are seniors there right now who never got to have class with some of my favourite teachers. Faculty members who have passed away and were celebrated by their former students every year are now just names on the wind. And after the class of 2001 graduates, i don’t think anyone will know who i am. I’m just another random alumni who sometimes comes back to visit his teachers (since i won’t know any more students).
I think i might cry.
