I just took a nice jog that ended in Ani DiFranco tickets. This will be the fourth time i’ve seen her, once per year since the year Living In Clip was released. And, to think i almost didn’t go….

ROCK ON!!!! Leigh from Frailty is gonna be at Ani on monday too!!! I get to meet my favourite darling poetic frenetic-layout webmistress! Very excited.
I can’t tell if Nelly Furtado is some horrid Jennifer Lopez wanna-be or an almost Patti Rothberg. Anyone listening to the first song on her album might say the latter, but past that all bets are off. The disc honestly isn’t too good, but i think that’s mostly the fault of her producers. He writing is fine and could develop into something great, and her voice is incredible. Oh well… her original influences aren’t exactly singer-songwriters, but as she grew older she picked up some great artists like Portishead, who are a personal favourite. Nelly does achieve some great pop moments on the disc, but they’re too muddled with stylistic confusion on the other tracks to make a difference. I look forward to a second effort.
I have favourite albums, to be sure, but some albums transcend “favourite” by representing a true perfection of art and music. These discs are often not the easiest to listen to or like, but once you get comfortable with them, they never go away. I don’t own enough of these albums, and am alway looking for some more. If you show me yours i’ll show you mine. Coming to mind right now are little earthquakes, out of range, and eighteen over me. More as my ears are graced…
