And now i just have random facts scribbled in margins and underlined repeatedly. All of Disney’s Florida complexes were evacuated. There was and is a discussion of a “change in military status” in the United States. The Navy is on alert, and the C2 aircraft carriers JFK and George Washington were deployed to locations in the Atlantic adjacent to NYC and DC, respectively. The Kennedy Space Center shut down and brought its shuttles indoors.
Bertie has three incredible pictures from her New York commute to work. More in a moment…

Sometimes it’s Brendan’s footnotes that make me laugh the hardest. Dude, i must get a look at your textbook … i wish we had classes like that at Drexel. Actually, having read that would’ve definitely aided my enjoyment of the Madonna concert, which featured a witty edit of anime girls being chased, beaten, and taken advantage of to the tune of a pounding remix of “What It Feels Like;” i specifically remember seeing an example of what your footnote mentioned and wondering what the big deal was :p
Wow, before i do anything else i want to send a HUGE congratulations over to Uprush hostee ClosetBoy, who was just selected as a Blog of Note by the folks at Blogger.com. I sometimes wonder how and why Ev and the gang choose the blogs they do for their sidebar spotlight, but in this case it’s entirely clear.
An odd search string – “woman fear bad teeth drill dentist filling” – not only yields my own dental terror, but also coincidentally a witty essay at the Drexel online journal. Small world. Meanwhile, longtime blogging bud Matt Pollard recently got addicted to JunkBot, but he hasn’t risen to junk super-stardom as i have this week. Also, lovely linky love from the very purple Garage Dream & Pandora’s Boxers, orangey joannou, PuppetMaster Alum Shea, Blog-a-Thon alum YuccaCentric, and longtime associates Romina & May. And, finally, a long-awaited (and beautifically greyscale) redesign by one of the reigning queens of all things blog Re, who i do not link nearly as much as i should (is that a guitar i see beneath her header picture?) .
Time passes quickly on the internet and after spending a few days away i feel as though i’m hopelessly out of the loop. Everyone is back at school and merrily battling against their first week of classes sending us photoless postcards of their experiences for us to savor and scrape for every last detail until the next one is posted. For a moment somewhere in there i had that same sensation of momentum… out of my old apartment, into my new one, settling into my new space, heading out to shop for new decoration… but in the end i seem to have wound up right back where i left off on Friday, which is the same place i’ve been leaving off for months now. Of course, a physical change is really only three weeks away with the start of my third year of classes, but this Drexel-induced time warp doesn’t represent the entire story; even when classes start it won’t be as if i’ve started any huge new adventure – rather just another leg of the same tired journey i’ve been on all along.
Hopefully this year i’ll manage to fit in more detours. In the meantime you can watch my tires spin and spin as i get exactly nowhere, i suppose..
