What’s my point with all of this?
We are ten days short of the anniversary of my first post on this blog, and i suppose i’m just trying to discern if anything has really quantifiably changed for me. Because, if it hasn’t – if the only changes are cosmetic and that these posts get longer and fewer and farther between, then this is just another failure; another ended interlude that i just have to use as ammo to the best of my ability in the future.
Of course, i don’t believe that, really, because my life has changed in ways i can’t even really enumerate because of this dumb hunk of internet i call a home. The little things have been shifting and shifting in my life, but overall it’s hard to see the net effect. It’s like the difference between imagining 50,000 pennies piled up in your living room versus one hundred million of them in your driveway; you know that there’s more in one instance as opposed to the other – i can tell that i’m a different person now, but i don’t know by what margin or if i’m better or worse off.
I only bring this all up (only, ha!) because the next month for me is going to be full of movement and opportunities and chances to prove myself, and it’s looming a wee bit too close for comfort right now. But, if i really want to be the reject that i’m supposed to be, i suppose i have to start living up to potential sooner or later.
Enough said. Time for bed.

Hi. Does anyone else find this slightly disturbing?
“NetIdentity was founded in 1996 as Mailbank.com after the company discovered that 70% of the U.S. population shares one of only 9,000 last names. Using a computerized phone directory, NetIdentity sorted out the most common surnames and began buying them. … NetIdentity controls versions of the surnames of 69% of the US population.”
Of course, my last name is probably in the bottom 1% of last names by commonality in the United States, so i’m not worried so much as i am disturbed. Although, i suppose with however many hundreds of thousands of “Smith”s or “Miller”s or “Donaldson”s there are in America, i’d rather have some benign webmail service own my family name than some teenaged netizen with a webcam and a low SAT score. However, that’s only the case in America – in some other countries it’s a different story.

hahaha… mp3 traders can kiss Shirley’s ruddy scottish ass … no one gets a listen to this one until the band is good and ready. From longstanding Garbage news-source CafeMomo.
OK folks, Just got this info from my mates at the label; the band have sent over a CD-R of what is purported to be the final mix of the album and it arrived yesterday. Currently only *one* CD has been sent over, and under the directive of the band, cannot be distributed whatsoever, even to label personnel; in fact, the label manager carries it about with him at all times to stop people there doing a quick CD copy. When he’s not out and about, the album is constantly played on the big hi-fi. Anyone who has been to the offices will know that it’s basically one big open plan on the 1st floor including the manager, so everybody gets a listen.

Links are yummy and good for you.
I don’t read MeFi too often, but when i do i get lots of content for my click. Although, i’m sure that a lot of it is true on some level other than the one where Microsoft holds 9-year-olds ransom for stock options, and the incidental research was enlightening. In other news, Dean takes one of America’s more brutal and pointless traditions to task much more succinctly than i have in the past. With medical and scientific support rapidly dwindling, here’s hoping that we’re seeing some progress in the right direction; mutilation does not equal tradition. Meanwhile, KevRock combines my favourite two things in the entire world of the internet: blogging and purity tests. Consider me hooked – and, my score is criminally low just based on the questions posted already. BTW, the real home of purity tests is here, and decidedly not anywhere near here. Speaking of which, at last check this new way to obsess over your popularity if sitemeter goes down says Rabi is just as popular than the bastardizers of the purity test (AKA TheSpark.com). Who knew? Of course, it also seems to be under the impression that i’m more often blogged than In Passing as well as Huny, so maybe there are some kinks to be worked out of the system. In other news, via Rabi’s trim new sidebar links i have found another totally disarming and entirely engaging webpage (because i haven’t found enough of them yet, apparently). Next, Pete over at Dependant Films clues us in on an interesting entanglement between Kevin Smith and GLAAD. I might not be a huge KS fan, but i think he’s in the right on this one. By the way, Jesus was not blonde. Oh, yeah, and my favourite web-game franchise got namechecked in a nationally syndicated magazine. Hits the stands on Monday, check page 73. Rock.
I figure i should actually blog every so often to keep my cred up ;)
