The definitive, chronological, and up-to-date guide on collecting X-Men: From the Ashes, including X-Men flagship titles by Gail Simone, Jed McKay, Eve Ewing, and more in comic books via omnibuses, hardcovers, and trade paperback graphic novels. A part of Crushing Krisis’s Crushing Comics. Last updated December 2024 with titles scheduled for release through June 2025.
In March 2024 Marvel Comics answered the question of how the X-Men line will move on from The Age of Krakoa with the announcement of X-Men: From the Ashes.
Editor Tom Brevoort introduced the From the Ashes era by saying, “The X-Men are fractured in the aftermath of the end of Krakoa, scattered across the globe without a central base of operation. What that means in practice is that all three titles carrying the name X-MEN are core X-MEN series—they all center around one of the major aspects of what the team has been about at different points. This is very much by design. We want to field a wide assortment of X-titles with different styles and tones and approaches, an X-MEN book for virtually any taste.”
This new era of X-Men comics launched in July 2024 with three co-flagship books all with “X-Men” in the title, as well as three further team books (NYX, X-Factor, X-Force) and three solo titles (Phoenix, Storm, Wolverine). Those nine books quickly expanded with a trio of mini-series (Dazzler, Mystique, Sentinels) and a second wave of solo book announcements (Laura Kinney – Wolverine, Psylocke, Magik).
This era is marked by a “play the hits” approach to X-Men that gets them back to being hated and feared and eschews as much of the complex character work and morally gray approach of Krakoa as possible. The line is almost universally designed to call back to existing runs and concepts, with only Storm offering a truly original vision out of the initial 12 comics in the line. In particular, NYX is particular reverent of developments from Krakoa.
This guide will be regularly updated as issues are released and new titles are announced.

X-Men (2024) #1-(TBA) by Jed MacKay & Ryan Stegman (July 2024 – ongoing)
This book began with a cast of Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke (Kwannon), Kid Omega AKA Quentin Quire, Temper (formerly AKA Oya), Magik, and Juggernaut. They were based on Alaska, which has interesting implications for Scott Summers – since that was the home of his grandparents and his home with Madelyne Pryor.
Jed MacKay said:
If you look at that line-up, they’re a group of people who are not well suited to integrating into the world. And in these books, we’ll see what that means and what it looks like going forward.
This book definitely pays homage to the “Revolutionary Cyclops” period of Marvel Now X-Men by Brian Bendis. It features Scott both as a leader of the mutant race and as an outsider to both humanity and the current mainstream of mutants.
#1-6: by Jed MacKay, Vol. 1: Homecoming (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302959364 / digital TBA)
Uncanny X-Men (2024) #1-(TBA) by Gail Simone & David Marquez (August 2024 – ongoing)
This book began with a classic cast of Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, and Wolverine based in New Orleans.
Simone said:
I think X-Fans are special in that we identify with having something different about us…and you’re going to feel that in this book, and what it means to have that thing about you that’s different, or exceptional. We go deep into the emotional part of that.
This book quickly transformed from a classic X-Men team to a school book focusing on a group of new characters that often push our primary squad of mutants into the background.
#1-6: by Gail Simone, Vol. 1: Red Wave (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302959296 / digital TBA)
Also collects X-Men (2021) 35 (3rd story) and the Free Comic Book Day 2024: Blood Hunt/X-Men (2024) #1 (Jubilee story).
Exceptional X-Men (2024) #1-(TBA) by Eve Ewing & Carmen Carnero (September 2024 – ongoing)
This book launches with a tight focus on Kate Pryde as she deals with the PTSD of surviving the experience of the Age of Krakoa. It follows her back to her hometown of Chicago as she meets a trio of new mutants – Bronze, Axo, and Melee.
Eve Ewing said:
Longtime fans of Kitty Pryde can count on the kinds of adventures you expect from her as a classic favorite, while I hope new and old readers alike will get to love this all-new team of young mutants. Kitty, the one-time kid sister figure of the X-Men, has to reckon with her own memories—good and bad—of being a child of Xavier as she navigates a role as leader and mentor for a new generation of mutants who are trying to make their way in a time of crisis.
Will Kate take these new mutants under her wing? And, what will her new relationship be with long-time frenemy Emma Frost?
#1-5: by Eve Ewing, Vol. 1: Duty Calls (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302959395 / digital TBA)
X-Men: From the Ashes Infinity Comic (2024) #1-(TBA)
& X-Men: Xavier’s Secret (2025) #1
A digital-first release that kicked off the same week as the finale of the Krakoa era to help link some plotlines to this new era of storytelling. Marvel’s Infinity Comics are often not collected for a year or longer after their original release, if at all. [Marvel Unlimited]

#7-9: “Don’t Sound Like No Sonnet” by Alex Paknadel & Phillip Sevy. A Havok story that acts as a prelude to X-Factor (2024)
#10-12: “Samosud” by Alex Paknadel & Phillip Sevy. An Omega Red story that acts as a prelude to X-Factor (2024)

#19-21: “Becalmed” by Alex Paknadel & Diogenes Neves. A Lifeguard(!) story.
#22-25: “Agents of T.H.A.N.K.S.” by Tim Seeley & Eric Koda. A Beak story.
NYX (2024) #1-(TBA) by Colin Kelly & Jackson, Lanzing, Francesco Mortarino, & Raúl Angulo (Jul 2024 – ongoing)
This book revives the title of the book that introduced Laura Kinney (X-23 & Wolverine) 20 years ago as a child forced into being a sex worker … despite the fact that she had been created as children’s cartoon character!
Writing team Collin Kelly & Jackson Lanzing with artist Francesco Mortarino seem intent on erasing that memory with a grounded title that focuses on Laura, Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel, and a number of Academy X era characters (including Prodigy, Anole, & Sophie Cuckoo) as they try to rediscover what’s normal while living and working in New York City.
Marvel’s announcement adds:
Free from the X-Men’s guidance and Krakoa’s protection, they’ll shut out the noise and overcome the hate by doing what they do best—EVOLVING. But if you can count on anything, it’s that mutants are never all in agreement, and some are having a really hard time letting Krakoa go…
This is a book about mutants living past the end of their world and into a new beginning. This is Ms. Marvel embracing her mutant life in the neon streets of the Lower East Side. This is Anole trying to keep his head above water. This is Wolverine in the shadows of Bushwick, protecting her own. This is Prodigy writing history as it happens—and Sophie Cuckoo finding her own way. The news reports are bleak. The streets feel dangerous. There’s something lurking underground. Evil coming from every direction. But they’re determined to make it. This is mutant community. This is mutant pride.
The first five issues of the title take a “perspective character” approach, giving a deep dive on each cast member while also fleshing out their motivations and their connection to the central conflict of the book.
This is by far my favorite title of the X-Men: From the Ashes relaunch. In fact, it is one of my Top 10 comics of all of 2024!
#1-5: Vol. 1: What Comes Next Will Be Marvelous (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302959326 / digital TBA)
Phoenix (2024) #1-(TBA) by Stephanie Phillips, Alessandro Miracolo & David Curiel (Jul 2024 – ongoing)
This book focuses on Jean as The Phoenix on a solo cosmic adventure! The Phoenix Force wasn’t a major presence on Krakoa until the Fall of X endgame, since Jason Aaron was using it in his Avengers titles for most of that period. It will be interesting to see how it is brought back into the X-Men fold. Marvel’s announcement adds:
She is Jean Grey. She is Phoenix. She saves the world. She brings death. One woman, alone in space, who not only must do what no one else can: she yearns to. A desperate S.O.S. from Nova brings the Phoenix to the edge of a black hole, where hundreds of lives hang in the balance… and whatever Jean does—or fails to do—will bring darkness to the universe and haunt her in ways she can scarcely imagine…
“Jean is one of the most powerful characters I’ve ever written,” Phillips explained. “The beauty and challenge to Jean is that she is imbued with a cosmic force alongside the morals, shortcomings, and empathy of a human being. The dichotomy between those two is something incredibly special about Jean, and means that she is constantly doing a dance between humanity and absolute power.”
This book fulfills Chris Claremont’s initial goal for Phoenix to be a cosmic-level superhero on the same level as Thor, with enemies like Gorr, The Black Order, and Thanos.
#1-5: Vol. 1: Orbital Resistance (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302960179 / digital TBA)
Storm (2024) #1-(TBA) by Murewa Ayodele, Lucas Werneck, & Alex Guimarães (Oct 2024 – ongoing)
Storm returns with her own X-Men: From The Ashes solo title after two years spent at the helm of Al Ewing’s X-books on X-Men Red (2022) and Resurrection of Magneto (2024). This title sees her struggling to integrate with the human world while also being pulled away from the mundanity of Earth by cosmic forces.
#1-5: Vol. 1: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302961657 / digital TBA)
Sentinels (2024) #1-5 by Alex Paknadel, Justin Mason, & Federico Blee (Oct 2024 – Feb 2025)
An X-Men: From the Ashes book that focuses on a number of humans employed by the X-Men’s adversaries to hunt, capture, and sometimes kill them.
#1-5: Sentinels (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302960209 / digital TBA)
Mystique (2024) #1-5 by Declan Shalvey & Matt Hollingsworth (Oct 2024 – Feb 2025)

Psylocke (2024) #1-(TBA) by Alyssa Wong & Vincenzo Carratù (Nov 2024 – TBA)

#1-5: Psylocke, Vol. 1 (2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302961565 / digital TBA)

This one-shot featuring Cable, Bishop, and Eva Bell teases developments from throughout the Marvel line for 2025.
