How, oh how, am i failing one of my Journalism classes? It’s my favourite class. It’s my major. And i’m failing… miserably.
What i comes down to is that i love writing. Love it. When it comes to doing articles for my Voice class i have no problem — i often exceed the required length and have to edit my way back down. But for my straight Journalism class i’ve got nothing, because it isn’t just writing. I have to research and delve and interview. While i want to have all of these skills, and surely can succeed in their implementation, i don’t have the time or interest right now. When am i supposed to find time to go out and do investigative journalism for a couple of hours? My sources aren’t exactly available at one in the morning, when i’m usually wasting my time blogging, and i don’t tend to just sit around twiddling my thumbs during the day.
I hate this feeling… of walking into class knowing that i owe work, owe time, and owe effort. And, i have until Friday to fix it before making my imminent failure (or at least a C) a reality. Oh boy…
In a battle of will, what will win: My intense need for a bag of cookies and some ice cream, or my intense desire to not walk the two blocks to the convenience store and back in below freezing weather after midnight?
Trio: Season 2, #12
I haven’t done a Trio for quite a while, and apparently there was a reason … the one i did tonight sucks. Well, actually, it doesn’t suck, but it does show how out of practice i am and how my newly loosened vocal chords have a hard time fitting within the bounds i’ve set for them. Opening tune “You Have No Proof I Said I Love You” is the one i was working on with Andy a two weeks ago. Second is Lisa Loeb’s “Stay,” which i used to play all of the time when i bought my first guitar. And, well, if you make it past the second appearance of “Excuse,” just take what you hear with a grain of salt :p … it was practically improv.
Meanwhile, while here i’m in my room sounding like a steaming pile of sonic crap, boys only 6 months older than me are starring in my new favourite movie. Damned wasted time…
Monday morning, 11am, and i am back to my simpler life. Howling wind rattling my window and sliding over the eaves of the house as i defend myself against it with another layer. It is just a day that awaits me, ending like any other day should end. I just don’t want to begin it, is the problem…
