Over the past two months, Near Mint Condition has announced all of the Marvel omnibuses due for release in the first half of 2027 – including both new collections and omnibus reprints. And, for each book I’ve written a post explaining its importance and what it collects.
Below, I’ve summarized that as a full release schedule for the first half of 2026, along with links to all of those posts and their corresponding guides.
January 2027

Early on in this round of announcements, Omar hinted that there might be two more books to announced that subsequently didn’t materialize. That makes sense, since both May and June have only two new omnis – it could be each of those months had a book that were pushed back (either the release dates or just the announcements).
That leaves us with just 18 new books announced for the first half of 2027, meaning we’re on pace for a year of 40 or fewer new omnis from Marvel. If the back half of the year keeps up the 3-per-month pace, that would leave us at 36 books.
A release calendar of 36-40 books would be Marvel’s smallest omnibus output since releasing 33 new omnis in 2020. Many of us predicted a contraction of the release schedule in 2027 given the glut of poorly-selling Marvel books on the market over the past year, but I didn’t see anyone predicting a contraction that would take us under 40 books per year.
It could be that there are other market forces at work here, given the recent announcement of Marvel’s publishing layoffs and their move from their home in NYC to California in mid-2027 (which will trigger another layoff), as well as the announcement that Marvel has licensed badly-edited collections destined for the bargain bin to Dark Horse and that Clover Press would be picking up the printing of Marvel Masterworks.
Altogether, it paints a picture of a Marvel that is unsure of the market for their own material, who is taking less chances after taking a beating in the market from DC, and which is eager to offload as many responsibilities as possible (maybe in anticipation of a major shrinkage of their workforce).
As a lifelong fan of Marvel and a major collector and supporter of their collected editions, I can’t say that that any of this news seems positive to me. I was one of those calling for Marvel to scale back their release schedule into the 40s from a high tide of 60+ the past few years. Yet, between these omnibus announcements and the slim Epic Collection schedule for the first half of 2027 (with no new lines), it’s feeling like we might be headed for some disappointing times when it comes to Marvel collections.
