Now that i know what “Brick” is really about i am having a lot of trouble listening to it. It has a totally different quality than the mourning behind Tori’s “Playboy Mommy” or the empowerment behind the regret in Ani’s “Lost Woman Song.” Ben Folds hasn’t got any sort of redemption in his song, which is an element in both of the other ones to a certain extent. It’s just the saddest thing i could ever hope to hear, and now that i finally own the disc it’s on i find myself skipping around it every time. That’ll teach me to wonder about the motivation behind a good sad song…

Apparently some people were in a mad panic yesterday while i was taking my typical monday off from blogger because my last sunday post sounded like some sort of farewell. Of course, it was a farewell: it was a farewell to a blog-filled weekend. Meanwhile, while these people were aghast that i took a weekend off, none of them listened to this week’s trio. I realize not every week is as good as the the first one or the debut of “relief”, but come on – it’s my weekly feature, damnit. I don’t mind that people ignore the rest of my website, but at least you could humor me and listen to my bumbling around on guitar once a week.

I can only remember being killed in a dream one other time recently, and that time i woke up immediately because i had been abruptly cut out of the narrative of the dream. Don’t ask me how i managed to stick around this time … i think it was just the Benadryl keeping me drowsy. I woke up a few times in the middle and then dove right back in, as if coming up for air momentarily. I popped right up at 8am though, and even made it to class on time. Imagine that.

I saw Laurel on the way to class and we had a chat. She’s going down to Florida around Christmas as well, except she’s staying down all the way thru New Years. I suppose it’s only fair, since she’ll be with family and she already spent the Eve with friends at Drexel last year. Still, i couldn’t help but feel a little sad, since that means New Years won’t be a tradition like i was hoping it would be.

For those of you who had no idea, PowerBloggers will be down for the better part of this week for security reasons, as apparently someone had hacked into the server recently. Torrez assures me it’ll be back soon enough, so try not to panic.
