I totally had no idea that PJ Harvey had a new disc coming out on Tuesday, but she does! Which means this week is musically going to rock for me, with Monday night being the Ani DiFranco concert and plans to jam next weekend. Last night i met a girl who used to be in a punk band, and we might get together and rock soon (with me on bass! fun!). More news as i find it.

On the other hand, Nina Gordon’s Tonight and the Rest of My Life is a mostly banal pop effort, even when viewed without Veruca-tinted glasses on. You can see my review of the record later this weekend when my new section, Just Like Assholes goes up. Everybody’s got them, ya know…

Veruca Salt’s Resolver is, if not the best album released this year, then by far the album with the best low-to-high volume contrast. With two out of my favourite three songs on the disc being quiet not-even-rock songs, the rest of the incredibly loud album makes a perfect balance. I hate when a band can’t do “loud” (or “soft”) despite being good at the other end of the spectrum, but Louise Post does not disappoint. Ultra-Highly recommended.

My hair is not getting any lighter. I realize that it’s dark to begin with and that i shouldn’t be expecting that much, but i’ve successfully lightened my whole head of lovely locks this Spring with the same colour, and i have significantly less hair now. Hmph… it probably only worked last time ’cause Gina helped me… Gina is a hair magician. She can successfully dye any hair any colour with proper preparation. She’s been a host of neat colours, from Blonde to Vampire Red. But she’s sick right now… and my hair is too damned dark…
