Hitting on me is very flattering, to be sure, and i usually don’t even mind when people who aren’t my type hit on me. However, in the “not my type” category, way too many gay men have been flirting with me lately. I’m not sure if i’m putting off pheremones or something, but i’m starting to feel a bit uncomfortable. Today at work i was alone in the store and a totally unescapable head on flirting collision occurred. One of my customers just kept talking and talking at me (“Are you from Philly?” “Oh, i’m not from here, but i love this city, don’t you?”) even after i had gotten him coffee, given him change, and made the requisite idle chatter. Only very favourite customers get to hang around and chat any longer than that unless they’ve hit upon some delightful subject. And trust me, he hadn’t.

Now, i’m not sure if any of the 20-thru-30-something men stop to think about this, but i’m only 19, and by the most exaggerated account i might be 21 (based on how i “conduct myself). More likely, if i shaved a few key spots i could easily be making huge bucks being passed off as child pornography. I know that might be rather titilating, but between my relative youth and my being straight, the gay guys are working a few of my mid-to-last nerves.

And i’m flattered, of course.

Sorry, i totally can’t make out the distinction between the “h” and the “k” when they’re next to each other. I assumed the way i was spelling it (now corrected) made for a more airy sound after the “a.” And that’s “he,” but i’m used to being sexually misnomered over the ‘net, so i won’t hold it against you. You’re mostly right, and i was being a huge bitch, but doesn’t Zakh just wind up as the biggest person of the three of us right now? I thought his response was as mature as they can get in the blog world. Oh well… he at least has me reading your blog now :p I did tell him that i always wind up reading the ones i hated (Survivor, E.Bisc., Zannah, ect)

Albums that don’t come in cd trays piss me the hell off. We all know that cds can live a rough and tumble life, bouncing from car to computer to bedside table to god-knows-where when your friends borrow them. Digipaks annoy the daylights out of me, especially the ones like Tori’s venus and back where there’s only a little cardboard slot for a disc, and not a holder. Making matters worse, i can’t ever transfer tvab into a case because it has an oversized cd booklet (as wide as the entire cd case and slightly too tall) and no backing card. Aimee Mann is apparently much more sympathetic to the consumer than Tori, as her Bachelor No.2 comes with a correctly sized booklet as well as a backing card that only needs a centimeter of blank space trimmed from it to fit into an empty cd case. The card is extraneous in all situations other than that one, so i have to assume that i correctly guessed its purpose. It makes sense, because right now packaging in digipaks is much cheaper than distributing cds via cases, and Aimee was self distributing this album when she first released it. Score another for ingenious Krisis (and his exacto knife!)

In an amazing display of technical merit, i just took apart and put back together my CD drive, and now it works again (and i found a piece of it that i had presumed as gone for over a year now, which presumably was blocking the track of the tray). In an equally amazing display of early morning numbness, i missed the bit on my Recording Exam where it said “and define the terms” on a question where i knew the terms better than i know my own foot size. Damned feet.
