And now i’ll talk about why i actually love going to school here. I’m sitting in the office of the theatre production proffessor, having come from the office of the liason to commuter students, and before that i was chatting with the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The cool thing is, they’re my friends. I don’t mean that i could necessarily call one of them up and go hang out out their house, but they all welcome my drop-ins with a smile and always invite me to come back. Some of my friends here don’t have that kind of relationship with any professors or staff members, and i just find myself wondering why. I can actually tell you: it’s all about getting involved and making yourself known. No ass-kissing is involved, either! Simply proving yourself to be a reliable student or member of an academic association is really enough. So, here i am, on a wireless internet connection in the office of my Tech Director. I like my life. More news as i live it…

Well, last night i had spent hours bitching and whining about the lack of functional technology here at Drexel, owing to the fact that our marvelous voice recognition software basically transcribed a spoken word blog as gibberish. Thankfully for us all, the program in question conveniently crashed my computer before the post could be made. And, after all, it was gibberish.

On the contrary, right now i’m seeing some positive mileage out of Drexel’s technology: i’m blogging from a laptop in a random location on our newly famous wireless campus (nevermind that the dorms aren’t actually wireless, it’s irrelevant now that i’ve left them behind). Yep, all wireless. Did i mention that one of our namesakes is about to become one of the the few American saints? Yes, exciting times at Drexel. Love that D.U.

Another day at work… … notice my lack of excitement. I love New World Coffee and i have wonderful fun there, but i’m busy and itching to go on co-op. If it wasn’t for all the perks (free bagels) i might consider looking for a job somewhere else.

In other news, this is becoming an out and out journal, isn’t it? I mean to have more random musings and arty things, but i just haven’t had the time lately. Hopefully those will pick back up sometime soon. Until then, just keep enduring the real life snippets of moi

Why are webcams always shooting at an oblique angle? Would it be impossible to sit the damned thing right on your monitor to shoot straight on? I sorta want one just so i can be a daily exhibitionist, but i don’t know if i’ll be on the internet enough for it to matter. I still fully intend to buy my own domain and hosting, though, possible as early as November. Suggestions as to what company to go through are appreciated.

Someone, i think it may have been Chrissie Hynde, said a very true thing about second albums. You’ve got years to write for your first record, really your entire life. But, for your second record you’ve really only got a year, or two at the max. In my case, that’s the difference between almost 100 songs to choose from as opposed to only about 30. This time last year i was in a severe writing rut, but by Thanksgiving i was recording tracks for what would become Other Plans. This morning’s Recording class got me thinking about my next cd, and what might actually wind up on it. I’m not so sure right now, but i need to start making the effort soon.
