I just wanted to return the massive amounts of linked love i’ve been getting lately from a few peeps. First, James from PuppetMaster has not only sent me all sorts of attentive visitors, but hit on me (i suppose to return the favour of my massive hitting on him early in the game). Next, SurvivorBlog1’s Nicci has turned up again and she seems to be all colours of obsessed with BigBrother2, which i didn’t even know was on until i read her log. Frykitty prominently mentioned my sex vs concerts rant the other day; she’s the cool cat in charge of Blog-a-Thon (which starts in 48hours, yum). Also, i’ve been seeing some action from Super Hyper Demon Child, where i’m sorta-kinda a poster, and a renewed stream of hits from Re @ Beautiful Freak – who’s been one of my favourites for ages. Nearing the end of my lil’ link crawl, Lost and Found has had me on their 10-favourites for months now, and while i’m skeptical that anyone could tolerate me for a daily basis for that long i’m incredibly gracious for the attention.

Finally, i’ve been getting tons of hits from JoeyRoo as well as a few other people where my link is a regular fixture, but i don’t have your addresses in my referrals! Not that i’m promising to return the linky-love of everyone on the internet, but if you’re someone who’s recently sent me a couple of handfuls of hits drop me a note so i can return the favour. Whee! Work is over now!

Erm, there are some things which i blog and some things that i only tell to the notify list, and such is life. But, anyhow, you didn’t miss anything between the last post and now because all there has been is sleep and work. And, as much as i’d like that to be directly followed by sleep, tonight is my last chance to record for the incredibly imminent Blog-A-Thon that begins Saturday @ 3pm my-time. If you have some last minute requests for the songs i’ll be recording, please drop me a message and i’ll see if i can work it in. I can tell you right now that there might be a mid-thon Trio, and that there will be at least one appearance of the lovely Gina on vocals and guitars. Okay… two more hours of work… here goes…

Today was a long day. Sandwiched inbetween our normal visit schedule to admissions and the summer orientation schedule, today was a Sneak Preview event for engineers and design arts students. It was also the hottest day so far this year. These two factors combined made every little bit of the day last longer than it was ever intended to, and produced one too many groucy parents for my taste. They complained about everything… tour wasn’t long enough, tour was too long, not enough water, too much water with other things excluded, not enough information about academics, not enough information about student life…. and these contrasting viewpoints were just from the handful of evaluations i snatched a glance at. I suppose the moral is that you can’t please all of the people all of the time, especially when the mercury gets past the 9-0 mark.

However, my day was even longer than all that would imply for a very special reason: i somehow elected myself to be our Dragon mascot. Now, this wasn’t just something i came up with willy-nilly… the perspective engineers were building catapults, and they wanted something for them to be able to aim their velcro-covered whiffle balls at. So, first my job was getting the suit and finding a volunteer, but it soon became finding a volunteer to replace me in the schedule of events so that i could wear the suite.

Have you ever been a mascot? The feet are giant-sized novelty-slippers that are too big to fit onto stairs. The body is saggy and feels a lot like being wrapped up in terrycloth only, when wrapped in terrycloth, how often do you have a tail that’s over a yard long? But, the most important consideration in how awkward a mascot suit is to maneuver in is the head. Since our mascot is a cartoony dragon, i get topeer out of the maw of the mighty beast… and the maw continues for nearly a foot beyond my eyes before it ends. My eyes and ears and spiny-things extend far enough above the top of my head that i cannot touch my hands together over top of it.

Add all of this together to get me, as the dragon, standing in the middle of the grand court of our Main Building schmoozing with our guests and then having them fire small projectiles at my head. In the process i got to pose with our elusive President Papadakis, pick my dragon-teeth with pieces of catapult Connex, and be pummeled again and again in the crotch by low flying whiffle balls. However, as much as i might complain, please note that 50% + 1 of our attendees dropped off applications, which is better than average for an event so early in the application process for rising Seniors. So, if you’ll excuse me, i’m off to take a well-deserved nap before beginning tonight’s recording. Afterall, i went to bed rather late last night…

Un-Ugh. Home recording began last night and it’s entirely hilarious and fun. There will be surprises for you in the final mix of songs. Also, since the studio had its meltdown (thus making everything a lower quality), *all* donaters will get the best-of cd, and anyone who was getting anything better than that will get that plus what i’m affectionately calling Gone, which was the 7 studio songs i recorded (including the definitive versions of A Long Time Since and Atlas. No promises yet, but i should have it mastered by October, and it might wind up as a split EP with Gina.

Meanwhile, since i’m just fucking around on my home computer, extraneous covers have again become fair game. Email me with suggestions (i’ve already got two down that weren’t even in original consideration).

It’s funny. Really. Just laugh.

I find myself emotionally rather pathetic. I mean, i have my own soap-opera running daily in my head with me as every major male character so i can try on various romantic possibilities for size, but they’re really all just possibilities – as many as anyone else has. Today, does Peter elope with Catherine? Or, will Peter break up with Joan when he finds out that she’s been cheating on him with Peter? And, Peter and Jessica’s wedding! On the next “Crushing Krisis!” But, anyhow, moreso on the notify list then on here i just posted my little romantic peevishness and suddenly i’m Fabio or Brad Pitt or something. And, it’s funny, because generally i view myself as the incredibly pathetic and unromantic entity, but apparently i’m painted as a much more dashing figure via this log … no surprise, since these are words piped directly from my head. I paint myself approximately as much as a loser as Brian Krakow from My So-Called Life, and everyone i know had a crush on him as a character even though they wouldn’t give him the time of day within the teevee show. I think you get the point.

I sometimes forget the allure of personal experience on the internet… people flock to stories about flirting and kissing and sex like sharks following the scent of blood on the water. So, hungry much?

I have kissed three and one half people in my life, and that is not to say that i have a thing for midgets. Shortly after my first kiss i had the half-kiss, which was a kiss with full intent but no tongue. Thus, i count it as half a kiss. Person three was sortof random for a kiss, but not at all nondescript and it was with someone who i like very much as a person, so i don’t really mind it. So, there we stand at two and a half kisses. The thing is, they happened in a very isolated period of time, and i have yet to go into it any deeper than that and things are staying that way. It was not that i was a hunk; it was a total fluke, and combined they probably only count for one kiss, as each of them were rather isolated events inside of their own isolation.

We all know that my fourth kiss was Selina, and i don’t need to really delve to much into that as you can easily scope out the situation via the archives. My first kiss with Selina was the most timid peck on the lips ever and to this day it makes me wince not because of what it resulted in but because it was a very naive thing and it just shows that i never quite know what i’m getting into as i’m getting into it. The kisses got distinctly better as the weeks went on, and then they ended (without a single relapse, which is unusually healthy for a person with a personality as addictive as mine). And so began my last few months of drought.

By my 20th birthday i’ll have kissed a fifth person, because i can hardly put off practicing my multiple stage-makeouts with my co-star until opening night, but it’s not because of that that i bring all of this ridiculousness. I bring it up because i feel that there is potentially another kiss in my relatively near future. Yes, i’m sitting here worrying about kissing someone – i have every right to, since i don’t think any of the other circumstances were exactly normal in nature, so i’m still awaiting my first relatively normal kiss where i’m not entirely worried that i’m going to do something stupid and unattractive. If we were to include my myriad of “almost kisses” into the equation i would be safe and typical, but that’s why i have a song called “almost” and then another one called “typical” : so you can see that i write the same damned love song for every almost gone by, and that it’s rather typical of me.

So, anyway, eventually i have to learn how to lean into someone without feeling like i’m simply interrupting their day. I suppose that’s the whole point. And, look, i shed some fresh blood along the way. Bleh. Why am i allowed to have one of these things?
