So, after my massive bitch session last night, today was about change. After two particularly bitchy comments this morning at the coffee shop i gave my two weeks notice. It’s a bit odd, because the shop is the first real permanent job i’ve ever had, and i love all my coworkers dearly, but at this point the experience is worth more in stress to me than it is in cash money. I could have theoretically stayed almost through April, but i’m not. Oh well. In other news, i might be moving. I’m not sure. I like this apartment a lot, but i think i’s much worse than a dorm room for me because i really am here by myself almost all of the time, which motivates me 0%. When Matt is here all he does is sleep on the couch or … um… occasionally sleep in the bed, and it’s a proven fact that the social state and work ethics of my roommates rub off on me, so… i don’t know. Moving would be a lot of bullshit, and i’d have to talk to all of our utilities and find people to help me move, but this place isn’t really condusive to my mental health right now, and i really need my mental health.

Other changes? I don’t know. I told Laurel that i had a girlfriend, and then i told her i’d cry when she leaves for Europe. The way i feel about Laurel is sorta the way you feel about that one special ex: benevolent and still attracted even though you know nothing will ever come of it. Of course, nothing ever did come of it because Laurel isn’t my ex or anything like it. What she is is a beautiful & intelligent true friend, one of my first in the theatre at Drexel, and i will never forget her.


So, there’s my positive day. Now i have to go and die… err… i meant sleep. Yeah. Sleep of the dead.

The Bloggie Awards wind up sucking as much as i feared they would suck. Why? Because highly irrelevant too-popular logs were nominated almost across the board, which leaves me thinking that hardly anyone actually read the tens (and mayeb hundreds) of blogs that were nominated. It’s at least true that voters wholly ignored whatever isn’t currently hot; the absence of PowerBloggers definitely detracts from the credibilty of the voters, but Torrez himself was nominated as one of the most humorous logs, so that’s something of a consolation.

So what are my picks? I’m not voting for best meme, as they’re all stupid and pointless (by definition). All of the European logs are incredibly incredible, and you should read all of them. Twice, even. For tagline, how could i resist Virulent Memes: “Just like Kottke, but interesting.” Obviously i think Survivor1 deserves best temporary blog, since it forced me to become obsessed by it, but more importantly its host Ernie (Little Yellow Different) is nominated for best new weblog (and he just might be…).

Of course, most important of all is Rabi’s WockerJabby being nominated for best kept secret. Now, i know that by now you must be aware that i’m madly in love with Rabi and that i worship her blog like some primitive cultures worshipped the sun. However, my obsession with her is only as such because she truly deserves all of the recognition the internet can heap upon her, and try as i might i can only provide a minute fraction of it. She is engaging, intelligent, witty, fun, and makes me want to read about physics. I’m not going to tell you who you should vote for, because that defeats the whole purpose of the awards, but if you take one pick of mine to heart, let it be WockerJabby, if only to prove to me that people who deserve things sometimes get them. Because they ought to.

Last night we were lying in bed talking about what we did over the weekend, and she turned to me and said “every time i do something with you it feels like the first time.” She mostly meant this on the level that everything from giving a hickey to walking down the street holding hands is new to me, and that i approach it all with a sense of wonder and humor instead of duty or trepidation. But, in a way, it actually sounded like she was telling me i made it all new for her again…

I cried a little bit last night, but she just thought it was because my eyes were tired. And they were. Anyhow, excuse me while i fall head over heels…

I saw a friend today who i haven’t seen in almost a month, and she smiled the biggest smile when she realized it was me who was walking towards her on the sidewalk. There’s no other feeling like putting a broad genuine smile on someone’s face. Nothing.
