The War Against Silence essentially confirms my feelings about the Radiohead record with a slightly more informed bias behind the opinions presented in the review. I had been feeling as though i should review kid a, but i think my job’s been done for me. Anyhow, if i were to review it i’d have to stop listening to PJ Harvey…

The busily confused “In Limbo” offers a musical demonstration of the idea that walking is basically a recurrent failure to fall down correctly.

I also nearly told off the editor of the triangle after he made a disparaging comment about my “epic length reviews.” I thought better of the telling off (but not before making a few choice comments about their typical reviews), mostly because the man is a simp. I don’t mean to be too full of myself, but i’m a Journalism major with a minor in Music. I am qualified to write CD reviews, at the very least. He edits an irreverantly whiney school newspaper. He is qualified to kiss my ass. End of story. Anyhow, i figured it makes no sense for me to bitch and moan about the bastard, because i already know tons of people are reading my articles, and that they want me to be a news-writer. Bitching will be saved for my hostile takeover later this year :P,

I might start writing News for our school paper, the triangle. Or maybe not. I honestly don’t have any time to do it this term, but they are incredibly short-staffed right now and i would be just about the only Journalism major working there, so it’s a hard thing to refuse. My basic qualification is that i want to keep writing Entertainment pieces for them, and if i can do both then i’m willing. It would be nice to be an Editor by Junior year, so that i could use that on resumes. Cause, i actually want to do something with my life. Sometimes.

Major label’s suck. They basically strip-mine the industry for potential singles, sign artists, release albums, and then ditch artists. Said artists might get picked up by another lable for exactly such a purpose at a later date if they’re lucky. If not, a fade to obscurity is assured. Examples? Joan Osborne, Melissa Ferrick, Elastica, Aimee Mann, Veruca Salt, ect… though, some other political issues were involved in some of those lable hops. Apparently, one must be a Sheryl Crow or a Marilyn Manson, to name a random pair, to stay in the good graces of one’s lable. In other words, you need to be hugely A/C (ever hear of an Adult Contemporary artist being dropped?), a churning single machine, or a huge cult artist. I challenge you to prove me wrong through citing examples within the last three years in the music industry. If you can prove me wrong, i shall sing your praises. Only the five/six major lables count, and don’t be fooled by imprints… Interscope/Geffen, Island/Polygram, Maverick/Atlantic/WB, Virgin/EMI, Epic/Dreamworks/Sony… ack, which did i forget? Oh well… get crackin;!
