My schedule is a fine example of my inability to decide whether i’m a workaholic or a slacker. I’m not taking any classes in my major, but i am taking three general requirements. Furthermore, i’m taking 9 credits of music classes, which will leave me a mere one class away from my music minor. So, there’s an interesting balance of slack and ambition. I really am interested in the MS/BS program now that i know more about it, but i’m really interested in obtaining my BA, so i really need to go and chat with my department about that.

Meanwhile, in terms of physical scheduling, i have class pretty much straight through the day M-W-F, but only one on T-Th morning (which is also a nice cross between ambition and slack, although i’ll be spending T-Th at the coffee shop). And, it all starts tomorrow, again. I don’t know how people at normal colleges deal with only having two semesters each year and such a lengthy summer break. I was going batty over the summer, and the only reason i can have so much leeway with my schedule is because i can make up for it by taking a full class load every semester. I suppose i’m just nervous that the classes are going to get harder… i’m intelligent and a good worker and all that, but classes that send me out to do something (like chases down obscure research at the Philadelphia Free Library) also intimidate me despite the fact that i do very well in them. Hopefully i’ll get back to the Comm classes in the winter, and i’ll have my general requirements done at the end of next fall. >sigh

Our living room wound up housing Matt, his friend Amy, our good friend Ariel, Gina, and I, all of us playing some sort of musical role in my belated b-day jam session except for Amy, who had to leave. We wound up pounding through “With or Without You,” a new song, “Under My Skin,” and “House of the Rising Sun” with Gina on lead guitar, Matt on bass, Ariel on various rhythms, and myself on guitar or bass. Afterwards we adjourned to Justin&Joey’s suite in the newly constructed residence hall, which i don’t like especially much. One cool thing is they have these neat fold-a-way seats in their showers, and since i am always exhausted when i shower i think it’s pretty cool. Then we visited Michelle&Nora in the older residence hall (where Gina would have lived). Their rooms rock, because they’re on the first floor and have fifteen foot high ceilings. Gina and I think they need to buy some chandeliers from IKEA.

Afterwards we returned to our respective homes and i went on a cleaning and organizing frenzy to complete what i started when i moved in two weeks ago. Matt generally stood back and offered suggestion as to where i should put my cd rack. The result is double the open floor space that we had before, and a convenient place for me to put my shoes. And now i’m blogging… definitely feels just like home.

Gina, however, brought a yummy cake for me, while Matt only comes bearing dirty dishes. So, Gina definitely wins that one.

After telling my extremely amusing story about Bacardi 151, Gina just launched into a conversation about grain alcohol and Charlie Sheen movies. She thought my birthday was today, and Matt thought it was next Friday. It’s always nice to be loved…

I think i stole this link from SurvivorBlog, but it’s pretty amusing, so i would go and look at it. I can’t understand why a video game console would intentionally waste space in its circuit board(s). I suppose Atari might have been unable to mass produce boards that were more efficiently constructed, but, still… a handheld Atari rocks. I would buy one in a second.
