So, after a quick flurry of emails i have to say i quite like monde despite what my anti-anti-drug post below might have inferred. She totally understood my situation after i explained it at length (when situations don’t belong to me at all i tend to spare them from the blog audience) and actually gave me some really great insight… i just wish i had it two years ago … sigh

Um, hi, i forget which request goes to which sponsor, but rest assured i am wide awake and diligently uploading as we speak. Also, don’t ever be so foolish as to search this page for the phrase “under my skin,” because it yields enough separate posts to keep a small tidy log running for half a year. I’ll talk more about that one after i sort out this mess of requests… (yes, i am putting it off)

I actually learned “Take to the Sky” because the girl from “Touch” was endlessly dying her hair red, so when Yucca challenged me to record it about 13hours ago i hardly even batted an eye. This isn’t the most coherent version i’ve ever committed to digital record, but the quality vs. clip ratio is perfect, so, enjoy. Oh, and, um, “Bliss”… just ignore that. Earlier this week i just decided that i really needed to cover “Bliss” in a really inefficient fashion… that’s all there is to that.

Hmm, or i could talk about what i’m supposed to be talking about.
I was asexual in high school, but it was more that i was being pulling in both directions than i was stuck in the middle. Everyone assumed i was gay because i liked shiny clothes and chick rock; i was desperately interested in girls who wouldn’t even begin to think of my not because they didn’t like me, but because i didn’t really qualify for romantic consideration. So, there was this one girl, and even though i had been rebuffed by her once or twice she had finally begun to see me as somewhat of an individual. With her seeing me as a person … an image of a person that was nearly what i was underneath all the assumptions, i thought that maybe i still had a chance with her (or, at least more of a chance than with anyone else). I’ll never know, though, because the day i wrote “Touch” was my last chance to cross that line between friend and otherwise (“can i fly faster than the silences, or cross miles past the line”). And, of course, “Under My Skin” is famously about when i finally kissed someone, but it’s about time to post another a/b-side, so you’ll have to hang on for that.
