Sigh. Freaking cardboard paper-cut on my right index finger, which has got to be the most important finger i have when i’m not playing guitar. This day is a rainbow… streaks of happy, frazzled, miserable, excited all running through it as if my life just rained and this is what’s left over. I screamed and screamed at Matt because i have $5.64 in my checking account and he owes me nearly $500 in rent and bills. I almost felt like it was my fault when he pointed out that i don’t always bring the bills to his attention when i get them, but then i felt vindicated when i realized that he has to pay the rent every month and that i’ve been keeping a running tally of what he owes me on the coffee table for at least a whole month. I’ll get my big fat paycheck next Friday, so nothing should bounce, but if our balance isn’t $0 by then i’d rather just live in the apartment myself rather than paying for the both of us. Ugh.
This will be a long post. I sat on the same couch as Selina last night to play Encore (a singing game) with my fraternity. I finally got to hear her sing when she wasn’t concerned about me hearing her, and i fell in love with her voice. As beautiful as it is, i almost feel as though she was hiding it’s beauty underneath something all the times i ever heard her sing, and last night it was left uncovered as she quickly belted out lines from musicals and pop songs so that we could win the game. We spoke to each other, and even helped each other in the game. She’s still the most attractive person on earth, i still can’t go back to her because it wouldn’t work out, and i finally unblocked her on IM. Yep.
AIM just had the most spectacular crash i’ve ever seen, and i couldn’t get it to come back on for an hour. Finally, it loaded sans buddy list except for one person … Matt (because he’s sitting on his ass at his computer and so AIM came back up as soon at the network did). Thanx, aol. Anyway, i have to clean like mad tonight because i have fraternity people staying with me over the weekend. Blogs made this weekend should be … interesting. These are the same people from this post. Yep. Fun. Love y’all.

Matt adds his .02cents from over the pond, where they’re worth less (or, alternately, his .02pounds, which is worth more).
Personally, myself, I wouldn’t fling. I mean, for one, it wouldn’t mean a thing. Also, for another, kissing and sex is supposed to be an intimate activity between two individuals (although some see if fit to involve more than two people!) and drunken flings would just dirty what should be a great experience. Not that the opportunity ever arises of course, but still, I’d still rather it to be with someone I’ve gotten to know and care about, rather than some random girl.
Ah, but the question that arises is: what if the drunken fling is with a non-random person? Instead of it being some random hottie at a party, maybe it’s someone you know from class and have always sorta liked. Of course, Matt might have meant it would’ve been random in that anyone other than a significant other would be random in that situation, but i almost always assume i’d know a potential fling a little bit (mostly because i tend to know everyone at every party i go to, even if it’s just a little). What do you think he meant?

Rabi flings her opinion into the fray:
I’m against alcohol-induced hookups, for most of the same reasons you mentioned in your post. but completely sober one night stands can be very meaningful, in their own way. I think. not every relationship is intended for longtermness, and just as it takes a special pairing to last a year or more in a committed relationship, it takes a special pairing to make a single night significant and resonant, emotionally as well as physically. and it can happen.
that said, I think most one night stands are probably pretty pointless, emotionally. people don’t treat them with the respect they deserve.
Of course, not everyone has to agree with Rabi (just me), so feel free to add your own opinion to the mix.

Opinions on getting flung? Says J.Miller:
Personally, I probably wouldn’t fling…not that the opportunity would arise, anyway. For argument’s sake, however, if I were to fling, I’d want to do it sober so that I could be assured of remembering it. =)
So, although Mr. Miller feels that he would never warrant a fling, inebriation or not, theoretically he might do it if he could retain all of the vivid and colourful memories of it. Do you agree?
