Whee! Home eating chicken soup and listening to good music with my mom! If this doesn’t make me feel better i can’t imagine what would work. And her computer is even performing competently! It’s even managed to load SurvivorBlog2, where i posted a ton this morning. Did you know i have the longest average post length by nearly 10 words per post? Yep… i antagonize them with my neverending stream of consciousness too, it’s not just you who has to sit through it. :p

The Bloggie Awards wind up sucking as much as i feared they would suck. Why? Because highly irrelevant too-popular logs were nominated almost across the board, which leaves me thinking that hardly anyone actually read the tens (and mayeb hundreds) of blogs that were nominated. It’s at least true that voters wholly ignored whatever isn’t currently hot; the absence of PowerBloggers definitely detracts from the credibilty of the voters, but Torrez himself was nominated as one of the most humorous logs, so that’s something of a consolation.
So what are my picks? I’m not voting for best meme, as they’re all stupid and pointless (by definition). All of the European logs are incredibly incredible, and you should read all of them. Twice, even. For tagline, how could i resist Virulent Memes: “Just like Kottke, but interesting.” Obviously i think Survivor1 deserves best temporary blog, since it forced me to become obsessed by it, but more importantly its host Ernie (Little Yellow Different) is nominated for best new weblog (and he just might be…).
Of course, most important of all is Rabi’s WockerJabby being nominated for best kept secret. Now, i know that by now you must be aware that i’m madly in love with Rabi and that i worship her blog like some primitive cultures worshipped the sun. However, my obsession with her is only as such because she truly deserves all of the recognition the internet can heap upon her, and try as i might i can only provide a minute fraction of it. She is engaging, intelligent, witty, fun, and makes me want to read about physics. I’m not going to tell you who you should vote for, because that defeats the whole purpose of the awards, but if you take one pick of mine to heart, let it be WockerJabby, if only to prove to me that people who deserve things sometimes get them. Because they ought to.

I think the core problem is that you are reducing me to my words. It’d be really different if you were viewing me only in terms of my songs, or anything like that, but all this represents is a skewed, blurred, sarcastic look at my life. That you can read it and assume you’re almost caught up on the story seems so ridiculous to me that i can’t help but lash out. I can’t be your friend if your only interaction with me is reading this; this is a Peter supplement, not a Peter replacement. I feel shitty now, for a whole ton of reasons. I’m sorry i keep playing this same damned broken record. I’m going over my girlfriend’s now. I’ll be back on the blog in a few days. Enjoy the rest. Bye.

Ha! I write about hickeys and my friends flood me with messages asking about this new love interest of mine. Nice, guys, very classy (in the way that voyeurism is classy) Do you really want to hear about my life? I think you must, since you snap up all the juicy bits. Here’s one to mull over: did i ever mention how i don’t feel like i have any friends? I mean… i have a few close ones that i value greatly, but for the most part all of the people i call friends are just people i generally associate with or have something random in common with me. Most of them don’t really know anything about me, like my bouts with anorexia, or how i’m convinced i’m bi-polar, or about my small cancer scare. Why? Because i never told them, because i don’t feel like i have that kind of connection to them. Or maybe i just made all of that shit up. Of course i mention it here and suddenly they’re all crawling down my throat trying to find out what’s happening.
Wow, i can be a bit harsh, can’t i? Oh well … this is my life … either take the heat or melt.

So, i think last week’s archive might all might sense to you now that i’ve given you a frame of reference to view it within. I obviously was spending less time in the apartment than per usual, and i was being unusually cryptic about it because so many people i know in real life read this log. That’s why i posted that one really bitchy bit on Thursday; i honestly feel like if i talk about something private on here rather than in person it’s going to be held against me, which is shitty. So, now i’m talking. Blah.
