Oh, pretty picture and an Ani quote! Surfing through right now.

What have i gotten myself into… in appreciation to May over at GeekGrrl for keeping my ego at high levels, i told her i’d play a cover for her in this week’s Trio. Of course, she went and asked for “Californication” and not the Aimee Mann i was hoping for. Still, i might cop out and play “May” from i’m with stupid. We’ll just have to see.

I would love to go to California to see a sitcom taped. There’s recently been a slight trend away from taping in front of live audiences (Malcom in the Middle, Ally MacBeal), and i know it won’t end live tapings for good, but i’d just love to see these people act. If someone with connections can get me some tix to Friends or Will & Grace, i’ll write you a song. Better than one of Pheobe’s, even. Really…

I even sound like Pheobe a little when i talk, but my logic circuits tend to function in a slightly more linear fashion. And i’m sitting here blogging about the #1 comedy on teevee, which i’m sure everyone else is watching right now anyhow. Oh god, make the awful Taco Bell commericals end…

From Furia: “Her songs sound like they were composed in half-decorated bedrooms and at old pianos with sandwiches sitting forgotten by, adaptable to acoustic radio-station appearances with little modification, songs that you could make sheet music for and give to kids or college a cappella groups. Simple, elegant, calm and unassuming, this is music that finds a middle ground between showtune intricacy and folk-song storytelling, between power-pop drive and retro-jazz reserve, between indie roughness and big-production gloss, between three-chord humility and technical detail work. When you say “pop”, this is as pure an explication as you could ask for of one of the things you might mean.”
