oh dear god… sara lee is opening for ani in phillY!!! Now i’m really pissed that i don’t have tickets… i’m calling the agency. I don’t particularly care if they’re glorified scalpers at this point, they got me 2nd row seats last year and they can do it again…

Actually, with the radiator on the bathroom is quite nice. I wonder how the acoustics are in there. An inordinate number of bands have an amp in their bathroom when they record an album in a house. Even Ani gets in on the lavatory action. I suppose with the right amp and the right tile you get a good sound. Gotta ask about that in my recording studio class. Meanwhile, while washing my hands i managed to pick on song that i don’t mind playing for the Trio tonight. Still need suggestions for the other two.

some comments on that last bit: My favourite songs tend to reflect my favourite albums of the moment, but as you can see there are a few departures from that list. The new Elastica album is wonderful, but it has only made me lust after the 1:33 of perfection that is “All-Nighter” even more. The split entries represent songs that i usually listen to in pairs on the albums they come from. On Nina Gordon’s album, the two are really the only ones i like, but on Tracy Bonham’s and Weezer’s they’re barely better than the rest. The Pretenders are on the list just because “Back on the Chain Gang” melts my whole world. As for Ani, “Swing” is from her new EP and her last LP, “Itch” is from Not So Soft (which i recently gushed about), and the live “Firedoor” (featuring an awesome segue into “Rapper’s Delight”) is from a 1999 radio show from Stockholm.

Two things i was reminded of in the last 10 minutes: 1 – Ani DiFranco’s voice is recorded so clearly on Not So Soft that you hear it rather than the underlying rhythm of a song when you turn the volume down very low. 2 – Microsoft products highlight in the most backwards, idiotic, and counter-intuitive fashion possible. But, that’s par for the course, really.
