It’s interesting how weather (and it’s colour) can affect people. All of today was grey and damp, and even my cheeriest friends were slightly subdued from their normal states. Normally frenetic people got downgraded to frantic, and the cheery and smiley became the sarcastic and bleak. In fact, most of the coolest people i know reported the same sort of emotionally violent mood i was experiencing last night. Is the weather sucking our lives away? Are we all too empathetic and responding to each other? Or is the gray in the sky just an excuse to match ourselves to it? When the ground was covered with vivid white snow we were all brisk and crisp and light. No wonder love is always in the air in the Spring…

It was raining when i walked out of the building, down on campus. A dull light rain. I didn’t really expect it, but i didn’t really mind either. It sort of calmed me as it blanketed the world in its uniform gray. As i walked north towards my apartment, tiny raindrops began to crystallize into the smallest and most perfect snow flurries i’ve ever seen. They dusted my hair and jacket until by the time i rounded my corner i was fully coated and sparkling. I wonder if it’s still raining down on campus? Or, if i came outside just in time to see the snow begin to fall. Stuff like that keeps my mind at play…

It was snowing earlier. Again. But now it stopped. I think i very well might make it through this winter, but it’s something we’ll just have to see about. There’s a lot between here and sunny days, and this is only the first week of it all. It will not get easier. Life does not get easier. I’ll keep you updated, though…

Today is a simple day. Outside it’s all white. They had been predicting a large snowfall all week but as i drifted off last night i hardly even remembered it. I’ve been sleeping on the floor since i got back because my bed still has the results of my cleaning spree all over it. This morning my eyes were pried open by the scrape of a metal shovel against cold hard cement, and even then i didn’t remember. A quick glance out of my window found tiny shards of whiteness lazily drifting down towards the ground, and it was then i knew.


Snow just makes the day more simple: it’s presence acting like a giant blanket muffling all of the streetsounds that usually remind me that there is an outside world. Now it’s just me, my guitar, and my fresh box of hot cocoa. And, of course, you.
