So you want short posts, eh? eh? Well, here you go. This has been the most boring week, like, ever. This morning i was supposed to wake up early and wash cars with my fraternity, and when i found out that the event was cancelled i was actually upset. I intensely looked forward to each day of work, and when i got home (reeking of coffee) the whole world sorta dissolved away to leave me bOred. I usually turn to Shafted in such times of despair, but the scariest ass of all seems to have killed nearly everyone other than MikeCy and JCO (which doesn’t make a big difference). So, in my intense boredom, this morning i created a blogger 
on my website. For those not in the know, a blogger can turn any two-bit idiot into the owner of the next great e/n site (paradox, anyone?). Blogging allows you to automatically post to any page that you have ftp access to, and it automatically arranges and archives for you. My blogger will be a venu for me to post short musings with no editting or linebreaks allowed at all. Isn’t it hard to picture? So, this short post is being simul-cast to Shafted and my blogger. I’m very excited. Yes, my life is that explicitly boring.

One thing that puzzles me about my aforementioned problem with holding a guitar pick is this: how do other artists do it? One of the main reasons i hold a pick like i do is so that i can mute the strings with the side of my hand. Both ani and peter mulvey have been known to use a pick from time to time and also employ this technique frequently. So, how do they do it??? I’m not referring to any namby-pamby little mute of the string; if you listen to my demo with the bass on your stereo turned up the muting on “world in my hand” and “bridge” will rattle your windows. There must be a happy medium between the idiot way i hold my pick and the awesome thumping mutes i use. >sigh

So, i am an awful sloppy bastard guitar player. Really. I took about six lessons and then decided that lessons were a waste because my instructor wasn’t going to tell me what i wanted to know. And as soon as i ditched him, i bought an armload of soft guitar picks so that i wouldn’t break so many strings when attempting to play ani difranco songs. And that all happened three years ago. So, now, while i have a very organically obtained understanding of chord construction and music theory, i have absolutely zero picking skills. To compound the situation, i hold my pick between my first two fingers and my thumb (as opposed to holding it on the side of my index finger like i’m supposed to). So, basically, i don’t play my guitar correctly. And since my guitar is such a piece of shit i’m not entirely sure that i’m improving. Heh. Did i mention that i am an aspiring singer-songwriter? I can’t sing correctly either. And i keep writing the same song over and over again. Remind me why i have my own website again, please? Anyone?
