What If & Marvel Multiverse Omnibus Mapping | 14th Annual Tigereyes Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Poll

March 13, 2026 by krisis 6 Comments

Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 2026 - Marvel Alternate Realities and What If Omnibus Mapping - What If?: Fantastic Four (2005) #1Once every year, thousands of Marvel collectors from around the world gather together online to watch Near Mint Condition and vote on their most-wanted omnibus titles. That time approaches – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 14th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Marvel Alternate Reality omnibus map of material that has not yet been collected comprehensively in omnibus.

As one of the organizers of the poll, I work closely with Tigereyes and a team of Mapping Minties to be sure Marvel’s entire publishing history has been mapped, with every issue fitting somewhere into an omnibus volume to fill your oversize Marvel shelf. Then, we’ll kick off the poll on Near Mint Condition on March 22, 2026.

This post covers Marvel 2099, Marvel’s What If, New Universe, Manga series, animated series adaptions, plus many other one-off imprints and alternate realities. Note that some Spider-Man, Wolverine, & X-Men alternate realities have been addressed separately in their posts.

Read this post and others in the series for a list of titles and omnibus mappings created by a group of the biggest collected edition enthusiasts on the internet. Every map is informed by Crushing Krisis comic guides and over a decade of polling data as explained by yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.

Your vote on the poll is a vote in favor of Marvel creating a book with that title or covering that period, NOT an endorsement of a specific mapping. Maps are presented as a proof of concept and to help you build your personal reading list.

Marvel Alternate Realities Omnibus Mapping: Marvel 2099 Omnibuses

With a surprising burst of omnibuses to cover X-Men 2099, Ghost Rider 2099, and Doom 2099, Marvel is now just three volumes away from completely collecting every issue of their original Marvel 2099 universe through its 10yr anniversary revival. Past that, we’d just need one omnibus of the new Marvel 2099 Universe, almost entirely written by Steve Orlando. See my Guide to Marvel 2099 for more details.

Marvel 2099: Punisher 2099 (1993 – 1995)

This would collect The Punisher 2099 (1993) #1-34 and potentially some elements from the “Fall of the Hammer” crossover (Spider-Man 2099 (1992) #16, X-Men 2099 (1993) #5, Doom 2099 (1993) #14, & Punisher 2099 (1993) #13).

Marvel 2099: Ravage 2099 (1993 – 1995)

This one would be a hard sell, since Ravage was the one all-original character in the 2099 line-up! He’s also the creation of Stan Lee, so perhaps the key to marketing this one is called it “Stan Lee’s Punisher 2099.”

This would collect Ravage 2099 (1992) #1-33 and potentially some elements from the “Fall of the Hammer” crossover (Ravage only appears in X-Men 2099 (1993) #5, Doom 2099 (1993) #14, & Punisher 2099 (1993) #13).

Marvel 2099: The World of 2099 Companion (1993 – 2019) [Unlimited, Hulk, World of Tomorrow, Knights 2099, Timestorm, 2019 mini-event]

This is the “everything else” book that could complete the original 2099 line, plus its later reduxes before a reboot during Marvel Now.

This would collect 2099 Unlimited (1993) #1-10 (omitted stories collected elsewhere), Hulk 2099 (1994) #1-10, 2099: World of Tomorrow (1996) #1-8, and 2099: Manifest Destiny (1998) OGN, which are all of the remaining issues of the original line of 2099.

Then, it could add the three later 2099 mini-events:

Marvel Knights 2099 (Black Panther 2099 (2004) #1, Daredevil 2099 (2004) #1, Inhumans 2099 (2004) #1, Mutant 2099 (2004) #1, & Punisher 2099 (2004) #1)

Timestorm 2009/2099 (Timestorm 2009/2099 (2009) #1-4, Timestorm 2009/2099: Spider-Man (2009) #1, & Timestorm 2009/2099: X-Men (2009) #1

2019 one-shots (Conan 2099 (2019), Doom 2099 (2019), Fantastic Four 2099 (2019), Ghost Rider 2099 (2019), Spider-Man 2099 (2019), The Punisher 2099 (2019), Venom 2099 (2019), 2099 Alpha (2019), and 2099 Omega (2019))

Marvel 2099 Returns by Steve Orlando (2022 & on)

Steve Orlando took control of the 2099 Universe after a handful of stalled reinventions. While he initially began with a focus on Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man 2099, eventually his scope and focus zoomed out to the wider universe with Annihilation 2099 and Conquest 2099.

Note that a brief burst of 2099 reinventions in 2019 during Nick Spencer’s run on Amazing Spider-Man (2018) may not be in continuity to Orlando’s version of the future.

Collects Spider-Man 2099: Exodus (2022) Alpha, #1-5, & Omega, Spider-Man 2099: Dark Genesis (2023) #1-5, Miguel O’Hara: Spider-Man 2099 (2024) #1-5, Annihilation 2099 (2024) #1-5, Conquest 2099 (2024) #1-5, The End 2099 (2025) #1-4

Marvel Alternate Realities Omnibus Mapping: Marvel’s What If? Omnibuses

Marvel has collected all of their What If material through 1995 in five omnibuses full of their one-off alternate reality tales. Then, it’s on to an omnibus that breaks ground on the series ofd 2000s one-shots that added up to reach issue #200! See my Guide to What If? for more details.

Marvel Alternate Realities Omnibus Mapping: New Universe Omnibuses

Marvel’s New Universe was the company’s first attempt to launch a completely new line of books with a shared continuity. These books had a solid pedigree of creators behind them and all lasted multiple years, so fans of a certain age still have nostalgia for them – or, at least, some curiosity.

Add to that the fact that Hickman tapped Star Brand & Nightmask for his Avengers run and I think there is some sustaining interest in these titles! We could knock out the entire line in just five books!

  • New Universe: DP 7 (1986 – 1989)
    • This would collect D.P.7 (1986) #1-32 & Annual 1 and Untold Tales of The New Universe: D.P.7 (2006) #1
  • New Universe: Justice (1986 – 1989)
    • This would collect Justice (1986) #1-32 and Untold Tales of The New Universe: Justice (2006) #1
  • New Universe: Psi-Force (1986 – 1989)
    • This would collect Psi-Force (1986) #1-32 & Annual 1 and Untold Tales of The New Universe: Psi-Force (2006) #1
  • New Universe: Star Brand & Nightmask (1986 – 1989)
    • This would collect Nightmask (1986) #1-12, Star Brand (1986) #1-19 & Annual 1, Spitfire and the Troubleshooters (1986) #5, Marvel Graphic Novel: The Pitt (1987) OGN SC, Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Nightmask (2006) #1, and Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Star Brand (2006) #1
  • New Universe Companion (1986 – 2006) [Kickers Inc., Mark Hazzard, Spitfire, & Untold Tales]
    • This would be a sizable book, topping 40 issues before even adding the “Untold Tales” material.
      • Kickers, Inc. (1986) #1-12
      • Spitfire and the Troubleshooters (1986) #1-9 & Codename: Spitfire (1987) #10-13
      • Mark Hazzard: Merc (1986) #1-12 & Annual 1
      • The Draft (1988) OGN
      • The War (1989) #1-4
      • Optionally, it could add “Untold Tales of the New Universe” material, which would double-dip from the individual books but could be nice to have all in one place as it was originally collected in paperback back in 2006:
        • Amazing Fantasy (2004) #18-19
        • New Avengers (2005) #16
        • Untold Tales Of The New Universe: D.P.7 (2006) #1
        • Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Justice (2006) #1
        • Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Nightmask (2006) #1
        • Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Psi-Force (2006) #1
        • Untold Tales Of The New Universe: Star Brand (2006) #1
      • Also optionally, it could add Newuniversal (2006) #1-6

Marvel Alternate Realities Omnibus Mapping: Other Imprints & Realities

Marvel’s multiverse may always be more sprawling than DC’s thanks to their endless one-shot What If stories. However, DC tends to have more evergreen alternate reality stories than Marvel, since they focus more on graphic novels and limited series.

This list covers many of Marvel’s notable alternate reality material that have ever reached omnibus length.

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010 – 2013) [comics adapting the cartoon]

This would collect Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010) #1-4, Marvel Universe Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2012) #1-18, and material from The Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Preview Book (2010) #1 and Marvel Universe Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Comic Reader (2012) #1-4

Plus, additional covers and pin-ups by Momoko

Hulk: The Manga (1970 – 1971) [by Kazuo Koike & Yoshihiro Morifuji]

This was originally published as “Haruku: Monsutaa Komiku” in issues of Weekly Bokura Magazine in 1970-1971. We have limited information on this comic today (not for lack of trying), but it should be at least 400 pages in length.

Read this blog post to learn more!

Marvel 1602: The Complete Saga (2003 – 2015)

This would collect all of Marvel’s 1602 reality, originally conceived by Neil Gaiman. It would include all of Marvel 1602 (2003) #1-8, Marvel 1602: New World (2005) #1-5, Marvel 1602: Fantastick Four (2006) #1-5, Spider-Man 1602 (2009) #1-5, and 1602 Witch Hunter Angela (2015) #1-4″

Marvel Action – The IDW All-Ages Series (2018 – 2021) [Spider-Man, Avengers, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, et al]

This would collect the entirety of IDW’s Marvel Action line, which featured characters and designs that were incredibly close to the Marvel Universe – and some of which could easily be read as in-continuity stories.

This would collect Marvel Action Hour: Fantastic Four (1994) #1-8, Marvel Action Hour: Iron Man (1994) #1-8, The Avengers: United They Stand (1999) #1-7, and material from Marvel Action Hour Preview (1994) #1 and Marvel Action Hour [UK Magazine] (1996) #1-4

Moon Knight: The Manga (1979 – 1980)

We actually listed this in error, since it is under 100 pages! It should be combined with Hulk: The Manga (1970 – 1971) [by Kazuo Koike & Yoshihiro Morifuji], above.

We have such scant information on this one that I have to refer you entirely to a comment from a CK reader! (Feel free to let me know if you want to be credited by name)

The Moon Knight manga has even less info about it. Fans have posted pictures of some pages and have shared that it ran as back-ups in Televi-Kun Monthly 1-12 (1979-1980), the material is only in the ball park of 50 pages.

Unlike Hulk which was much more a direct correlation to the character, they took more liberties with this adaptation as Moon Knight is a high school ninja student that seeks revenge who gains immortality in the moonlight.

Apparently, this material was the last of a deal made to publish Japanese versions of Marvel characters so it was dropped as back-ups while the publisher moved on to create similar looking characters without the Marvel license. Had the deal continued, it would have also resulted in a Silver Surfer manga. While different, it definitely still looks like Moon Knight though!

Nth Man the Ultimate Ninja (1989 – 1990)

CK Commenter Andrew H. reminds us:

“Nth Man was set in an alternate future of our universe, where Marvel super-heroes were comic book characters.”

This would collect Nth Man the Ultimate Ninja (1989) #1-16. He also appears in Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #25 and Excalibur (1988) #27.

Power Pack by Gurihiru (2005 – 2010) [includes all 11 miniseries]

This would include all of the side-universe Power Pack YA mini-series drawn by the incredible Gurihiru!

This would collect Power Pack (2005) #1-4; X-Men and Power Pack (2005) #1-4; Avengers and Power Pack Assemble! (2006) #1-4; Spider-Man and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Hulk and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Fantastic Four and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Iron Man and Power Pack (2008) #1-4; Power Pack: Day One (2008) #1-4; Skrulls vs. Power Pack (2008) #1-4; Wolverine and Power Pack (2009) #1-4; Thor and the Warriors Four (2010) #1-4.

Punisher MAX Companion: World of Punisher MAX (2008 – 2012 (or 2024))

This volume collects all the remaining Punisher MAX material not already collected in the Ennis and Aaron omnibuses, as well as Garth Ennis’ other war stories set within the same Punisher/Fury Max reality.

For Punisher, it would collect Punisher MAX #61-75, Punisher MAX Force of Nature (2008) #1, Punisher MAX Special: Little Black Book (2008) #1, Punisher MAX Naked Kill (2008) #1, Punisher MAX Get Castle (2010) #1, Punisher MAX Butterfly (2010) #1, Punisher MAX Happy Ending (2010) #1, Punisher MAX Hot Rods of Death (2010) #1, Punisher MAX Tiny Ugly World (2010) #1, and Untold Tales of Punisher MAX #1-5.

For Nick Fury, the original Fury MAX #1-6 (2001) and Fury: Peacemaker #1-6 (2006) were left out of the Punisher/Fury MAX Omnibus and can be included here.

Finally, Garth Ennis wrote two Phantom Eagle tales, also set in the same MAX universe as Punisher and Fury during WW1. That means this could add War Is Hell: First Flight of the Phantom Eagle (2008) #1-5 and Where Monsters Dwell (2015): Phantom Eagle Flies the Savage Skies #1-5. That last series is a Secret Wars Battleworld tie-in.

Squadron Supreme – Supreme Power: The Complete Saga (2003 – 2011) [includes solo series]

This would collect Supreme Power (2003) #1-18, Doctor Spectrum (2004) #1-6, Supreme Power: Hyperion (2005) #1-5, Supreme Power: Nighthawk (2005) #1-6, Squadron Supreme (2006) #1-7, Ultimate Power (2006) #1-9, Squadron Supreme (2008) #1-12 & Supreme Power (2011) #1-4.

Note that this is also proposed to be collected variously across the Ultimate Marvel line.

X-Men: The Animated Series – Adventures of the X-Men (1994 & on) [could add modern X-Men ’92 minis]

This would collect the remainder of 90s X-Men Animated material from Adventures of the X-Men (1996) #1-12, Adventures of Spider-Man (1996) #3, and material from Spider-Man Magazine (1994) #1-13 and Spider-Man Magazine Special (1995) #1-2.

Then, it could add modern material from 1-8, X-Men ’92 (2014) #1-4, X-Men ’92 Infinite Comic (2015) #1-8, X-Men ’92 (2016) #1-10, the non-canon (to the animated series), X-Men ’92: House of XCII (2022) #1-5, and possibly also the canonical-to-the-cartoons X-Men ’97 (2024) #1-4.

Nth Man was set in an alternate future of our universe, where Marvel super-heroes were comic book characters. That said, there are a handful of additional appearances: Marvel Comics Presents #25 and Excalibur #27

A terrific reminder! I added this to the entry (and to our tracking sheet for next year).

Regarding the Max omni, if we’re pulling out 616 content, I believe Apache Skies and Howard the Duck are canon.

Ah, I should’ve recalled that about Howard, but didn’t know about Apache.

Apache Skies is a sequel (by the same creative team) to Blaze of Glory

The proposed 2099 catch-all omnibus should include th3 2099 A.D. one-shot (not to be confused with Genesis, Apocalypse, or World of Doom)
