I feel like a total fucking rock star this morning. I’m not sure what it is: the two incredible songs Gina and I recorded last night for the ‘thon, being asked a question about my intended slate of songs by a real-life honest-to-goodness reporter, or my girlfriend’s adorably punk pink hair.
Well, it’s certainly not from sitting in a cubicle from eight thirty, that’s for sure.

What is it with me today? I am awake, but soft and blurry around the edges, of my vision and of my voice. People keep asking me if I’m sick or what I have been yelling about, and I tell them that it was just a fun weekend spent alternatingly drunk and in the back of a Camaro, but I don’t think that’s really where my voice went.
They haven’t ever heard my voice, my real voice, how I would speak if I dropped the pretense and the humor and spoke from the gut instead of just from the inside of my mouth. I slip it in sometimes, in a conversation about our mailing boards or a redesign, dropping down to my real register halfway through the sentence to see if it makes them flinch.
It doesn’t.

I started writing a tiny blog entry about running and all of a sudden these three other entries came slamming into my brain all at once and i just started typing away, right there in outlook, not taking the time to untangle the thoughts from each other until i was done creating one big mess without a clear structure or narrative of any kind. Sort of like life.

No matter how badass you look with you new buzzed hair cut, scruffy visage, black wifebeater, and “don’t fuck with me” carriage, an entire exercise in acting can be ruined when you remind the dry cleaner not to forget your black shirt because it’s “part of today’s outfit.”
Up until that point i was doing really good character work, though.
But, really what do pissed off looking potential West Philly gang members usually say when the dry cleaner tries to steal their favorite shirt?

No one here understands why the giant, black, dragon-shaped cloud hovering over South Philly is freaking me out… i guess i’ll just let them think that i have a paranoid fear of my house burning down.
I mean, otherwise i’d have to reveal my secret identity, and that would just be bad form.
