Where does Ben Folds go to with the girl in “Brick?” For some reason i had always assumed it was an abortion clinic, but that’s probably because i listen to way too much Ani DiFranco. Going to an abortion clinic the day after Christmas is a bit morbid … i’m usually out buying bargain ornaments. Is the girl in the song sick? She’s “balled up on the couch,” and he remarks that no one is around to find him out. Of course, would getting a girl pregnant suddenly make her a “brick?” Actually, i don’t think she’s getting an abortion, because… i dunno, would he buy a girl flowers after that? In the weeks to come she proves to be less than okay, and he has to “Tell the truth.” Is she sick? I’m so confused… So, if there are any big Ben Folds Five fans out there who think they know where exactly what’s going on, please enlighten me. Otherwise i’ll just ask Amy when she gets home from home…
If you were interested, the cast page just got slightly updated. Not that anyone actually refers to it … which of course leads to the impulse to include intensely personal details about the people that are featured on it. Amy especially got a revamped entry, at her own request.

Much to my surprise, when i gathered up stray lyrics to bring over to Amy&Renata’s last night i came up with a solid fistful of nearly complete songs. Despite my incessant bitching about lack of inspiration and talent, i’ve been steadily writing at the rate of about 3 in two months but haven’t gone back to polish any of my work yet. I’ll see if i can find the time to get some more lyrics up on AMKitchen between Friends and Will and Grace :)
