Here’s the first full-length episode of my new show, Crushing Comics! (Episode 1 was just a brief teaser.)
The main theme of Season 1 will be unwrapping dozens of anonymous bricks of books from my collection, which each contain an oversize surprise. It’s liking unboxing my past seven years of hauls all over again!
Episode 2 features Thor by JMS Omnibus (Amazon / eBay), as covered by the Guide to Thor and Iron Man by Matt Fraction (Amazon Vol. 1 / Amazon Vol. 2 / eBay) as covered by the Guide to Iron Man.
All three books get a thumbs-up from me, but you’ll have to watch to here all about Thor’s big Ragnarok, plus learn how I cannot pronounce the names of either of the major creators on that run.
That was adorable. I would do this same thing if I had to pack up my whole collection. It’ll be fun to take this journey with you! Speaking of the JMS/Gillen Thor, I just finished working on a bind of them. I managed to fit everything from JMS’ Thor through Fraction’s run that ran alongside JiM into one massive book. I left out and/or excerpted from a few issues of Fraction’s run that I didn’t care as much for, but I also included Siege and Fear Itself. It will easily be the biggest book I’ve bound (60 issues + 9 excerpted issues). An epic tome, but that’s generally how I like them (both to get maximum completeness in as few volumes, and for cost reasons). JMS really did start something great there. I just got the JiM omnibus as well, that story is so so great.
