Marvel Omnibus Reprint: Iron Man by Michelinie, Layton, & Romita Jr Omnibus

June 19, 2026 by krisis Leave a Comment

Iron Man by Michelinie Layton and Romite Jr OmnibusNear Mint Condition announced a Marvel omnibus reprint for April 2027 that is massively popular but also surprisingly controversial: Iron Man by Michelinie, Layton, & Romita Jr Omnibus.

What is this material? The Iron Man by Michelinie, Layton, & Romita Jr Omnibus collects what is widely considered to be the first truly great run on Iron Man. It includes the complete “Demon in a Bottle” storyline focused on Tony’s alcoholism as well as several other key classic stories. Plus, it was the run that introduced James “Rhodey” Rhodes – the future War Machine!

This omnibus is a stone cold classic – truly some of the best comics of the Bronze Age.

So… what is it controversial?

It’s not the material that is controversial, or even that is being reprinted. Just as with last week’s announcement of the reprint of Deadpool by Joe Kelly omnibus, we haven’t had this book of “ought to be evergreen” material in print since 2013.

The controversy has to do with OTHER REPRINTS of this material. Specifically, the currently in-progress reprints in the classic Masterworks-based omnibus line as well as in the Epic line.

When Marvel released Invincible Iron Man Omnibus Vol. 4 in May, literally every single omnibus fan fully expected it to buck the trend of following the exact breakpoints of the Marvel Masterworks to end at issue #114 so that it would line up perfectly with this book. It would only involve adding three extra issues on top of the scheduled chunk of 3 Masterworks.

Then, Marvel could re-release this volume as “Volume 5” just as  just did with Captain America by Jack Kirby, perhaps re-issuing it with new scans. There’s literally nothing else to add – there are no side appearances or crossovers in this period. It’s just a straight sprint of Iron Man (1968).

Instead, not only did Marvel flub that by ending Volume 4 exactly where the Masterworks broke off – three issues short of this book – now they are reprinting this book, which is the exact same book as the impending Volume 5 except Volume 5 will have those three gap issues.

It’s inexplicable. And, it’s going to cost Marvel thousands of dollars as people either buy this and skip Volume 5, or skip this and wait for Volume 5. But, that’s not the only controversial aspect of this reprint! [Read more…] about Marvel Omnibus Reprint: Iron Man by Michelinie, Layton, & Romita Jr Omnibus

Iron Man Omnibus Mapping | 14th Annual Tigereyes Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Poll

February 19, 2026 by krisis 4 Comments

Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 2026 - Iron Man Omnibus Mapping - Iron Man (2020) #25Once every year, thousands of Marvel collectors from around the world gather together online to watch Near Mint Condition and vote on their most-wanted omnibus titles. That time approaches – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 14th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Iron Man omnibus map – including War Machine & Ironheart – for material that has not yet been collected comprehensively in omnibus – all of which will appear as options on the 2026 poll.

As one of the organizers of the poll, I work closely with Tigereyes and a team of Mapping Minties to be sure Marvel’s entire publishing history has been mapped, with every issue fitting somewhere into an omnibus volume to fill your oversize Marvel shelf. Then, we’ll kick off the poll on Near Mint Condition on March 22, 2026.

Iron Man got two omnis in 2026, but before you start to get excited you should know that the monkey’s paw curled real damn tight when it granted this wish. Both books are deeply problematic from a mapping perspective. See the first map below for my uncensored thoughts on how three issues means The Invincible Iron Man Vol. 4 will be a major thorn in the side of omni collectors forever. And, the less said about the hodge-podge of Iron Man: Armor Wars the better – it’s a slim book that skips around to different stories, which is always the bane of major collectors.

Read this post and others in the series for a list of titles and omnibus mappings created by a group of the biggest collected edition enthusiasts on the internet. Every map is informed by Crushing Krisis comic guides and over a decade of polling data as explained by yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet, including my Guide to Iron Man – Tony Stark.

Even if you don’t own a single omnibus, you can use this post to learn about Marvel’s history of material and find great comics to read physically or digitally!

Every Missing Iron Man Omnibus, Mapped | 13th Annual Tigereyes Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Poll

April 18, 2025 by krisis

Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 2025 Iron Man Omnibus MappingIt’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Iron Man omnibus that does NOT exist – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.

For the next two weeks, I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.

Iron Man has surprisingly few omnibuses compared to Captain America and Thor. While we got an early 2026 announcement of Iron Man: Armor Wars, it’s a hodgepodge of a book that collects three different disconnected runs. It’s looking like we’re at risk at falling into an every-other-year schedule for Iron Man omnis, so let’s get to voting to show Marvel what we want!

If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.

Or, if you don’t care about omnibuses, just use this post to learn about Marvel’s history and find some great comics to read!

The book titles and mapping in this post were curated with the help of the Invincible BrandXK! BrandXK proudly supports The Hero Initiative, an incredible charity that helps to support comic creators in their times of need – especially with medical expenses.

New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – April 16 2025

April 10, 2025 by krisis

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader (2025) #3, a Marvel Comics April 16 2025 new releaseNext week is the 16th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics April 16 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics April 9 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: Tony Stark’s anti-Doom insurgency, Elektra & Ghost Rider vs. Muse, Epic Modern Widow, Godzilla vs. 70s Hulk, Aaron Wolverine reprinted, Spider-Men battle paired foes, some mysterious Superior Avengers, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: Marvel’s line is in a rough spot without many exciting comic series at the moment, so my pick of the week has to default to a Star Wars book for a second week in a row. Congratulations, Star Wars: Legacy of Vader (2025) #3, your my pick because Marvel’s superhero editorial strategy at the moment is a dumpster fire! Although, in truth, I do find this series pretty fun – as is the case anytime Charles Soule deep dives into a villain.

This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics April 16 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.

This isn’t the typical comic releases post you can find on other sites. Why? I explain each collection and review every series with a new issue out this week. Plus, for every new release, I’ll point you to a personally-curated guide within the Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics to find out how to collect that title in full!

There’s no other website on the internet that can claim that.

New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – March 12 2025

Deadpool (2024) #12, a Marvel Comics March 12 2025 new releaseNext week is the 11th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics March 12 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics March 5 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: Nocenti’s Daredevil finally in omni, more X-Manhunt (whether we like it or not), Kylo Ren chases Vader’s Legacy, Aaron’s Namor concludes, Miles Morales goes Epic, a huge Hudlin Panther omnibus, Stark Insurgent begins, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: In a week without any big debuts, I’m left to get excited over some of my favorite ongoing titles, and high on that stack right now is Deadpool (2024) #12! Cody Ziglar is on quite a run of perfect, hilarious Deadpool stories that make excellent use of his supporting cast, and I’m loving his crossover conflict with Miles Morales.

This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics March 12 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.
