Some business: A) Huge congrats to Marissa, the newest cool chick to win a Survivor-Based WebGame. Despite accusations that she won by baring the most flesh the most often, i can honestly say that i found Marissa entertaining from my first sighting of her, and i think she was very deserving of the win. Now onto more PuppetMaster, where i’m currently splitting color-commentator duties with the illustrious Bertie, queen of all things sBlog. Being the peanut gallery for PM is fun, because i always have something to blog as long as the contestants are acting up; it has nothing to do with my own motivation. B) I am very gracious for the link from Prosiac, a wonderfully cleanly designed website that found me over at PM. Next, redesign related-links were blogged by sBlog2’s Josi and Matt Pollard (who’s probably linked me more times than any other page i read). Also, please go give Dane’s new log a day or two of your attention. Dane was pinch-blogging for Mollie of Book of Days while she was on vacation, and is also a frequent commenter at Rabi’s and a newly accepted student at Drexel. Finally, to finish up in the gratitude category, Tom from Nothing is the third sponsor of the 25/24 project (the other two being the ladies that the latter two links led to).

There has been lazy rain dropping through the haze all day and it has left the sky a baby kind of yellow like ruddy cheeks after a long shower. I bought lots of food so that i’m not starving so often, and i washed some dishes. Tiny dents in the giant pile of stuff i’ve been meaning to get done. I finally did away with all of my various nested tables because they were from the ages of antiquity. Matt fits perfectly on the couch from toe to top of touseled hair. He sleeps there often and i can never figure out why … this room is cooler but the couch is too fuzzy for this weather and we can turn the air on in the other room. I’ve decided not understanding a roommate is no reason to hate them. I have fixings for tortellini alfredo that will be yummily cooked as soon as i finish the second half of my dishes. Also, i updated my favourite links with recent reads book of days and halo33, as well as adding liz to the crushed bar.

I have been neglecting linking to Liz for quite some time now and it has only really hurt me because i keep forgetting to read her site; she comes at everything freshly and she makes me feel young and romantic even when i’m not feeling too much like either of those at all. Reading her page actually puts a lazy smile on my face that leaves me glowing & clean afterwards. Just like the rain.

For those of you who didn’t realize that Philadelphia was the sexual technology Mecca of the East coast, check out this msnbc story about two women who were arrested for running a “sex dungeon” out of their residential “computer solutions” storefront. This local flavour story was brought to national spotlight [sic] by my local NBC affiliate, who didn’t even bother to blur out the number on the store’s sign. Good job, guys.

Philadelphia’s NBC10 news crew is the largest local collection of yellow journalists and hyperbole artists that i’ve ever had the opportunity to witness in action, and their newscast tends to be aimed directly at people who circle Access Hollywood and Wheel of Fortune in their teevee listing every week (which is a double whammy, because not only are those two syndicated gems typically aimed at the lowest possible denominator possible, they tend to be on at the same time every night and thus don’t generally require circling). Lead stories on their news teasers feature (in this order) (without fail) death, fire, breaking news on weightloss, & NBC-centric entertainment news. This station followed each NBA Championship game with a half-hour of local coverage featuring reporters standing in every sports bar in the Greater Philadelphia Area rather than run the normal nightly news or the NBC post-game show. They break into soap operas to report a dusting of snow that had been forecasted the night before. Their anchors are local glamourpusses who marry local politicians and are in-turn reported on by local gossip columns. In other words, it’s a quality all-American news organization that focuses on the subject-matter that an alarming number of Philadelphians actually care about.

Please don’t fail to take note of the wholly unspecific and incidental (though ironically written) reporting on this story by Lu Ann Cahn, who recently reported on a “Flash Fire” at Drexel that was really a small propane tank explosion. Aside from her tantalizing lead-in mention of the women possessing a “large knife,” there’s the explicit name-dropping of “medical bondage.” Unless Lu Ann has mistaken “bondage” for the ever popular “masochism” angle of S&M, i can’t imagine what she meant by “medical bondage” other than maybe wrapping ace bandages around unusual body parts. My favourite part of of the article was, without a doubt, friends and neighbors who didn’t mind the (apparently) openly operated sex shop as long as “they would be dressed real nice” and that their customers were “guys in Mercedes.”

B&D, S&M, E&P, and the shocking news about your favourite Friends star’s personal life, tonight on NBC10 at 11! And, for more unsual explorations of sex and computers, head over to Ernie at LYD, who blogged the article all the way from California.

I am searching for inspiration.

Monday nights in Peter-land are nap nights, because i always stay up way too late on Sunday nights (in this case, harrassing Ernie and posing naked for my only appearance on Bertie‘s SurvivorCam). So, last night i had my standard 16-hour sleep-a-thon during which i got nothing done other than sleeping. And then came today. And then comes tomorrow.

This summer definitely has a very sweeping quality where it just pushes me along and i don’t entirely realize that time is passing. The Madonna concert is in 19 days and i’m not even close to freaking out. The new Garbage album comes out next month. I have to register for classes. I’ll be 20 soon. I’m afraid that somehow i’ll fall asleep tonight and wake up tomorrow to everything in my life happening all at once like a thousand cannons all firing across the span of a field that i’m standing in the middle of. Or maybe that was today.

But, as i mentioned, i am searching for inspiration; not any specific kind of inspiration, mind you, but a more general sort of inspiration that can motivate me to do any one of a great number of things that i should probably be doing. The thing about inspiration is that it has to offer you something that the present does not, or otherwise you’d be content rather than inspired, and i think that’s nearly what i am right now (which is not to imply that i’m happy… i suppose i meant “complacent” more than i meant “content,” but complacent makes me think of lazy slothful people and i actually paid bills and rode a bike this week so i’m surely not either of those).

(I’m glad i cleared that little confusion up; imagine… me, content? That would sorta defeat the entire purpose of this, wouldn’t it?)

Benjy just said something to the effect of i haven’t really been saying much about my life recently. Well… yeah. My life hasn’t been very much of a life recently. There has been a lot of work (42 hours last week), a lot of sleep (Monday to Tuesday is typically 14 hours of sleep, other nights are usually 8), some sports (kickball, bowling, avoiding borishly inebriated theatre people, rollerblading), a lot of guitar-playing, and… well, and some random email to the notify list. But, really, that’s it.

Mention of the list brings up the fact that I would seem to be spread pretty thin considering my participation (and lack thereof) in CK, JLA, CORlog, Repulsed, 25/24 Updates, &; PSB2, but none of those things really directly compete for each other’s content. JLA is only for when i am unlazy enough to write down a review of an album instead of just thinking it; Repulsed is for especially straightforward observations on life or politics that would be redundancies to this log, 25/24 is for noting the work i get done on that project (if any), COR is gated by the amount of music i buy, and PSB2 is just inane. The only spectre of a competitor is the Notify List.

I’ve always held that i’ll post anything to this log that i ever think to write, but sometimes there are things that i don’t think to write – because they’re repetitive or they don’t fit in with the voice of the log or because i just want feedback from them. I started the list as a way for me to keep blogging during the absence of the blog itself, and now that i have the blog back i have enough readers on the list that it represents about half of my regular readership and since they’re interested they have the chance to read all of that in-between content that wouldn’t ever really get written into this box. Every update of the list has involved me staring into the Blogger post screen for five or ten minutes before resorting to email. I suppose i went in the opposite direction of DotComments… instead of trying to make my audience a part of my log so i can track them i’m trying to hold my audience captive to my log in another medium. It’s the same, though, because subscription to the list is inherently participatory in the same way commenting on a post is in that i know that the people on the list read whatever i write to them and if they didn’t want to they would just ask me to be taken off. Whatever. The point being, there will be more life when i have my life back, and if you’re that seriously addicted to me you should probably be on the list (which Benjy is, so he’s just addicted).

Wow, that was pointless.
