Marvel Omnibus Reprint: Captain America by Waid, Garney, & Kubert Omnibus

Captain America by Waid Garney Kubert OmnibusNear Mint Condition announced a Marvel omnibus reprint for June 2027 that is certainly due for a fresh run, but comes before a brand new book I think we all assumed we’d see first: Captain America by Waid, Garney, & Kubert Omnibus.

The Captain America by Waid, Garney, & Kubert Omnibus was originally released in 2017. It collects the final year of the original Captain America (1968) ongoing, skips over the 13 issues of the Captain America (1996) “Heroes Reborn” series, and then continues to collect the first two years of Captain America (1998).

Mark Waid is always a huge name in comics, but he is particularly notable the past few years as one of the major drivers of the DC Universe with hit after hit on his hands, including the much beloved (by everyone but me) Batman/Superman: World’s Finest (2022).

When a major writer has major visibility at any publisher, it’s not uncommon for Marvel or DC to release an omnibus of their work. DC just did it the past few years with Gail Simone, who has her highest profile of all time at Marvel right now!

However, there’s another reason to reprint this Captain America by Waid omnibus, and that’s due to the omnibus that directly precedes it: Captain America by Mark Gruenwald Vol. 4, which has yet to be announced. Marvel Omnibus Announcement: Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 4 & What The–?! Omnibus

Incredible Hulk Vol 4 OmnibusNear Mint Condition announced a pair of Marvel omnibuses – one that will be slightly earlier than expected in February 2027 and one totally off-the-wall choice for March 2027: Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 4 & What The–?! Omnibus

There’s very little surprising about seeing Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 4 except that we’re seeing it in February! We had Volume 2 in November 2023 and Volume 3 in November 2025. While I was fully expecting to see Volume 4 in 2027, I was also expecting it to be a 4th Quarter release like the last two.

The contents are also unsurprising: they are exactly the contents of Marvel Masterworks Vol. 10-12 with the addition of one piece of supplemental material. Hulk omnis always follow the “3xMMW” rule of having three Masterworks of content each, and we already have enough Masterworks for two more.

Other than the early release date, the only real element of note here is that this contains Wolverine’s first appearances in Incredible Hulk (1968) #180-181, so of course he will be on the DM cover – but, surprisingly, not the main one!

Marvel Epic Collection Update – Every Classic Line Explained, Every Gap Mapped!

Today I’m here with a show about one of my favorite collected edition formats in all of comics – Marvel’s paperback Epic Collections! Specifically their line of classic Marvel Epic Collections covering characters and titles that originally debuted prior to 1998.

My friends Omar of Near Mint Condition and Kurtis of the Epic Marvel Podcast recently teamed up to announce the Epic Collections slated for the first quarter of 2027. With a total of 50 classic Epic Collection lines ranging from Aliens to X-Men, it’s hard to keep track of what has been collected, what has been completed, and what gaps are left.

That’s what this show is all about. In 50 concise slides, I’m going to explain each line, the range of years and issues it covers, what has already been released, and what is left to collect.

Whether you’re an Epic Collection devotee like I am or simply curious about this line that has been going strong for 13 years and over 400 volumes, this is the only explainer you’ll ever need.

Marvel Omnibus Reprint – X-Men: Inferno Omnibus

X-Men Inferno Omnibus oversize hardcoverNear Mint Condition announced a Marvel omnibus reprint for May 2027 that will be very popular with X-Fans, because every X-Men reprint is popular with X-Men fans! But, this one especially, because it is one of the most-beloved X-Men storylines of all time: X-Men Inferno Omnibus

The X-Men Inferno Omnibus combines what used to be a pair of oversize hardcovers.

One, X-Men: Inferno, collected the core of the event in Uncanny X-Men (1963), X-Factor (1986), New Mutants (1983), and the X-Terminators (1988) limited series. That contained everything you needed to know about the plot of Inferno.

However, Inferno was also only the second truly line-wide Marvel Universe event (the first having been Secret Wars II (1986)). The vast majority of all Marvel ongoing superhero titles tied in to Inferno for at least one issues. Those tie-ins were previously collected as X-Men: Inferno Crossovers.
