Marvel Omnibus Announcement: Spider-Man: Big Time Omnibus Vol. 1

July 22, 2026 by krisis Leave a Comment

The Amazing Spider-Man 1999 0648 cover - The first issue of the Big Time era collected in Spider-Man: Big Time Omnibus Vol. 1Near Mint Condition announced another Marvel omnibus for May 2027, and this book fills a massive modern gap with a map that is very much Krisis-Approved! Readers remain divided on this material 15 years after its release, but regardless of the fan sentiment I am happy this will exist: Spider-Man: Big Time Omnibus Vol. 1!

“Big Time” was the banner that kicked off the era of Spider-Man that followed “Brand New Day.” Like “Brand New Day,” this involved Amazing Spider-Man (1963) shipping multiple times a month, so there was only one other supporting Spider-Man ongoing on this period. Unlike “Brand New Day,” instead of being steered by brain trust of writers, “Big Time” was written by a single lead writer: Dan Slott (with frequent assists with his more deadline-oriented friend, Christos Gage).

Dan Slott was part of the writer-go-round during “Brand New Day,” but this omnibus kicks off the collection of his eight continuous years writing Spider-Man. To this point, the only omnibus collections of that entire period are the Superior Spider-Man Omnibus, Super Spider-Man Returns Omnibus, and the Spider-Verse / Spider-Geddon Omnibus.

That leaves us with some big gaps to fill!

Fans have stayed divided on this run because it’s more of post-MJ Spider-Man. Some readers are simply never going to enjoy Spider-Man not with Mary Jane, and that’s their prerogative. Personally, I don’t care so much.

Also, certain fans simply never cared for Dan Slott’s writing for Spider-Man. I don’t like Slott on every comic, but I found him endlessly engaging during this run. However, I’d agree he could write Peter Parker as a bit of a careless asshole and not just stuck with his Parker Luck. Also, Slott’s track record in writing women other than She-Hulk is abysmal. From Carlie Cooper to Cindy Moon to Mockingbird, almost every supporting woman who turns up in this run is treated like a shallow accessory to Spider-Man rather than a character with their own motivations.

You’ll note that this omnibus does not say “by Dan Slott” in the title. I think that’s a positive thing, and it shows in the mapping of this book. This could have simply collected Amazing Spider-Man (1963) issues, including the issues that interacted with the line-spanning event Spider-Island. Instead, it collects all of Spider-Island, including mini-series and one-shots not by Dan Slott.

That’s a different approach than the recent Amazing Spider-Man by Zeb Wells omnibus line, which avoided collecting non-Wells tie-ins to both Dark Web and Gang War.

Some folks object to all of this non-Slott material in the book, saying it waters down the story. Pour moi, I think it’s a good thing for two different reasons.

Peter Parker – Spider-Man Omnibus Mapping | 14th Annual Tigereyes Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Poll

February 23, 2026 by krisis 7 Comments

Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 2026 - Spider-Man Omnibus Mapping - Spider-Man Unlimited (2004) #6

Once every year, thousands of Marvel collectors from around the world gather together online to watch Near Mint Condition and vote on their most-wanted omnibus titles. That time approaches – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 14th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Peter Parker Spider-Man omnibus map – including out-of-continuity titles – for material that has not yet been collected comprehensively in omnibus – all of which will appear as options on the 2026 poll.

As one of the organizers of the poll, I work closely with Tigereyes and a team of Mapping Minties to be sure Marvel’s entire publishing history has been mapped, with every issue fitting somewhere into an omnibus volume to fill your oversize Marvel shelf. Then, we’ll kick off the poll on Near Mint Condition on March 22, 2026.

Mapping Spider-Man omnibuses is one of the most-massive undertakings in the Marvel Universe. Spidey has the most-popular line of omnibuses other than X-Men by any metric you’d like to use – number of releases, sales, and votes on the poll.

Spider-Man omnibuses announced for 2026 have included Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 7, Web of Spider-Man Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day Vol. 3, Spider-Man by Zeb Wells Vol. 1, and Spider-Man by Zeb Wells Vol. 2 – plus Superior Spider-Man Returns.

That’s seven Spider-Man omnibuses in one year – and that’s just counting Marvel-616 continuity Spider-Man! However, it feels like it’s still a bit low for a year with a Spider-Man movie in it. We’ve gotta pump those numbers up.

So, how close are we to total Spider-Man coverage in omnibus? The options below get us pretty close, but at points we couldn’t map any further because of our guidance not to map more than one volume into a run where Marvel’s collection strategy is unclear. Taking into account the books we can’t credibly speculate on, I’d say we are less than 30 omnibuses away from total, line-wide coverage of every in-continuity solo Spider-Man comic.

That sounds like a lot, but at Marvel’s current pace of release it’s only 5 more years! Of course, there’s always new Spider-books to fill the schedule too, but even with Spider-Man adding 24 or more new issues a year there’s a solid chance we could reach complete coverage by the early 2030s if Marvel keeps up their pace.

Read this post and others in the series for a list of titles and omnibus mappings created by a group of the biggest collected edition enthusiasts on the internet. Every map is informed by Crushing Krisis comic guides and over a decade of polling data as explained by yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet, including my Guide to Spider-Man – Peter Parker (1963 – 2018) and Guide to Spider-Man – Peter Parker (2018 – Present).

Even if you don’t own a single omnibus, you can use this post to learn about Marvel’s history of material and find great comics to read physically or digitally!

March 27, 2025 by krisis

Deadpool (2024) #13, a Marvel Comics April 2 2025 new releaseNext week is the 14th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics April 2 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics March 26 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: All-New Venom revealed, Thor goes to Utgard, Miles’s God War begins, Epic Siege of Darkness, Avengers vs. Avengers, Marvel Rivals in print, Sentry gets another reprint, Old Man Daredevil, a West Coast Masterwork that pisses me off, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: Is this really happening… am I picking Deadpool (2024) #13 for my pick of the week!? You’re damn right I am! As Cody Ziglar heads into Year Two of this run he is hot off a smashing success with his Deadpool/Miles crossover. With truly funny quips, an outstanding supporting cast, and Rogê Antônio rotating back in on art I’m expecting major fun from this issue.

This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics April 2 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.

This isn’t the typical comic releases post you can find on other sites. Why? I explain each collection and review every series with a new issue out this week. One Nation Under Doom (2024) #1, a Marvel Comics February 12 2025 new releaseNext week is the 7th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics February 12 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics February 5 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: North’s One World Under Doom debuts, Eddie Brock goes red, 80s Spidey hits classic omni, Epic Young Avengers, arc-enders from Spider-Boy & Spider-Gwen, return of Utgard-Thor, two flavors of Cable, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: As tempted as I am to say Magik (2025) #2 after her smash hit first issue, I have to go with my heart and pick One World Under Doom (2025) #1 (of 9) penned by Ryan North. I’ve been cheering for North since the very start of his web comic days. It’s wild to see the web comic darling of 20 years ago steering a major Marvel event for arguably their signature villain. More on what North might in store below.

This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics February 12 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.

New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – June 12 2024

June 7, 2024 by krisis

It’s the 24th new comic book day of the new year! This post covers Marvel Comics June 12 2024 releases. Missed last week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics June 5 2024 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: a septet of Blood Hunt issues, complete Thompson Black Widow, a Thorless Thor Epic, Krakoa’s apocalyptic epilogue, Orlando’s Scarlet Witch perseveres, the end of Hickman & Schiti’s GODS, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: Scarlet Witch (2024) #1 (of 4)! Steve Orlando has been writing what might be his best comic ever with this run, and all of his art teams have been top notch. I have my fingers crossed this will get upgraded to an ongoing stories.

This list includes every comic and digital comic out from Marvel this week, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats. I recap and review every new single issue. Plus, for every new release, I’ll point you to the right guide within my Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics to find out how to collect each character in full – and, if a guide is linked from this post, that means it is updated through the present day!

Marvel Comics June 12 2024 Collected EditionsBlack Widow (2020) by Kelly Thompson, a Marvel Comics June 12 2024 new release

Black Widow by Kelly Thompson
(2024 paperback, ISBN 978-1302952662 / digital)
See Guide to Black Widow. This Eisner-Winning series from Kelly Thompson, Elena Casagrande, Jordie Bellaire, & Cory Petit is easily the best start-to-finish single read for any fan of Black Widow. It starts out by putting Natasha in a uniquely uncomfortable place and ends with her leading an unlikely team of deadly misfits.

This series looks great from start to finish and tells one big and and incredibly satisfying story that actually reads better as a binge than it did in single issues. Highly recommended!

PS: Don’t be put off by the awful cover of this collection; the interiors look nothing like this!

The Incredible Hulk Vol. 2: War Devils
(2024 paperback, ISBN 978-1302954178 / digital)
See Guide to Hulk – Bruce Banner. I think this second collection is a great place to start with Phillip J. Kennedy, Nic Klein & Danny Earls, Matthew Wilson, & Cory Petit is a fine place to begin. While I found the initial Ghost Rider story in this collection to be on the marginal side, I loved the follow-up New Orleans story.

This run leans into Hulk as one of the few weapons against the biggest horrors of the Marvel Universe, and I think that works best in 2-3 issue jaunts rather than longer arcs. It’s also a book full of page after page of stunning artwork, with a carefully curated color palette from Wilson that makes Hulk’s green really pop off the page.

Marvel Masterworks: The Avengers Vol. 2
(2024 “Remasterworks” hardcover, ISBN 978-1302951405)
See Guide to Avengers (1963 – 1996). This Masterworks collects the first true peak of early Avengers by Stan Lee, as we get the second year of their adventures together – including the iconic line-up change in issue #16!

This is a “Remasterworks” edition, meaning the linework is even more-restored than the original Masterworks edition. That restoration will be largely invisible to all but the most discerning of eyes, but if you want a prestige-format bookshelf of early Avengers comics then this is even more of a must-buy than it was before.

The Mighty Thor by Walter Simonson Omnibus
(2024 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302957612 / digital)
See Guide to Thor – The Odinson. This massive brick of an omnibus continues Walt Simonson’s entire multi-year epic both writing and pencilling Thor, all with modern recolors from the 10s.

I thought the modern colors were instantly dated and they haven’t aged particularly well. However, this is the only way to pick up all of Simonson’s run easily aside from a long-since-out-of-print set of trade paperbacks. And, colors aside, this run is about as classic as you can get – it’s one of the major pillars of 80s superhero comics alongside Claremont’s Uncanny X-Men and Wolfman & Pérez’s Titans.
