I’d just like to publicly thank Tony for being a big bastard about Blog-A-Thon while my personal bastardness has been replaced by this sing-a-long nonsense. I’m ususally very skeptical about memes dressed up as events, but i think you need to ditch the cynic-tinged glasses for a moment to take a look at what’s really happening here. First of all, FryKitty did this last year and garnered only a little attention, yet decided to do it again because she thought it was a good cause. Secondly, some people took it upon themselves to pick a cause that’s very close to their own lives and hearts rather than something trendy or catchy. And, finally, you can’t very well call $17k+ in donations by a bunch of internet strangers a play for hits; i sponsored my friends and the people supporting dear causes, and not some of the big names who i could have been mooching hits off of for the entirety of this past month by sponsoring them. And, i’m not even touching the irony of some of the names you used as examples of your anti-whores. Plus, you seem to be disregarding the fun and adventure this had brought out in some blogs; do you honestly think i would have taken the time to seriously record any of these songs if it wasn’t for the ‘thon and my sponsors to motivate me? So, Tony, please have a heart. Or, at least have one the next time i go on a bitterness rampage to keep me in check. After all, the two of us bitter at the same time could ruin the mood of the entire server.

Yay, more performance! Firda at WeblogWannabe is singing some of her favourite songs a capella, and is taking requests! Her rendition of “Head Over Feet” has this dreamy Nico-like quality to it, even though i was expecting a much more shrill approach to the song (after all, it is Alanis). Go take a listen if you start to get annoyed with my squawking :p

I just wanted to return the massive amounts of linked love i’ve been getting lately from a few peeps. First, James from PuppetMaster has not only sent me all sorts of attentive visitors, but hit on me (i suppose to return the favour of my massive hitting on him early in the game). Next, SurvivorBlog1’s Nicci has turned up again and she seems to be all colours of obsessed with BigBrother2, which i didn’t even know was on until i read her log. Frykitty prominently mentioned my sex vs concerts rant the other day; she’s the cool cat in charge of Blog-a-Thon (which starts in 48hours, yum). Also, i’ve been seeing some action from Super Hyper Demon Child, where i’m sorta-kinda a poster, and a renewed stream of hits from Re @ Beautiful Freak – who’s been one of my favourites for ages. Nearing the end of my lil’ link crawl, Lost and Found has had me on their 10-favourites for months now, and while i’m skeptical that anyone could tolerate me for a daily basis for that long i’m incredibly gracious for the attention.

Finally, i’ve been getting tons of hits from JoeyRoo as well as a few other people where my link is a regular fixture, but i don’t have your addresses in my referrals! Not that i’m promising to return the linky-love of everyone on the internet, but if you’re someone who’s recently sent me a couple of handfuls of hits drop me a note so i can return the favour. Whee! Okay…. psychological crisis neatly averted. Dr. Robot Nancy calmly talked me off of my psychological ledge and convinced me that i just need to do some laundry and buy a g-string tomorrow. Err… some g-strings. Err… make that some guitar strings. There. That makes it much less sexual and keeps it neatly separated from the romantic tangles which i have been neatly avoiding any mention of. I suppose you should be subscribed to the mailing list :p

The loins of my beloved highschool seem to have produced yet another blogger in Brendan, who has all of that tech cred i keep attempting to gain but isn’t even going to school to put it to good use. To prove how collectively demented and omnisexual our highschool made us when it comes to being starfucking gradegrubbing whores, here’s a snippet of conversation about the aforementioned attending of next year’s SxSW:


Brendan: I don’t know where I’d stay. It wouldn’t matter, though; I’d be, like, “Oooh, cool internet people! They’re almost like celebrities!”

Me: Yeah, well, my goal is to be on the verge of celebrity by then, and then just pretend to be (Ernie/KevRock)’s boywhore until everyone starts to notice me

Brendan: That’d work.

Brendan: I could be Ernie/whomever’s rented armcandy, or something.

There’s my quality pre-collegiate liberal arts education hard at work. I love me those Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence Magnet Schools. Mmm-mmmm good.
