20 Must-Read Marvel runs (that ought to be an omnibus) from 2012 to 2015

April 28, 2017 by krisis

Each year, a mysterious and intrepid comic book fan known only as Tigereyes reaches out to some of the biggest collected editions communities on the web to ask them a single question: What are the top 10 Marvel Omnibuses you’d most like to buy?

Thus, the Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Secret Ballot was born.

While we only get to see the top 50 or so results of the survey each year, based on the number of voters it’s entirely possible that there are over ten times that many omnibuses nominated by voters. The long tail of the survey would make not only for interesting analysis, but terrific rainy-day reading.

To help inspire that long tail as well as your own rainy day reads, I’m covering dozens of Marvel runs that would make for terrific omnibuses. For the past four days I highlighted every potential missing X-Men omnibus from 1963 to 2015. Now, I’m going to stroll backwards through time to look at the rest of Marvel, starting with their newest comic runs released from 2012 to present.

The fact that these books aren’t currently omnibuses (and may never be) doesn’t have to stop you from sampling them – even if you’ve never read a comic before in your life! Each one is a terrific self-contained comic experience that can be enjoyed without any crossovers or companion series.

You can either pick up existing collections as outlined by Crushing Comics’s Guide to Collecting Marvel Comic Books, or just sign up for Marvel Unlimited, a Netflix-for-comics where 100% of the issues from today’s post are available to read on any device.

Marvel’s Most-Wanted Omnibuses of 2016 – #25 to 21

June 11, 2016 by krisis

Omnibus on ShelfIt’s time for the next set of results from the 2016 Secret Ballot for Marvel’s Most-Wanted Omnibus by Tigereyes. I covered #30-26 in the last installment.

This set of books is decidedly more classic than some of the ones we’ve seen so far, with all of the issues under consideration released by 1991. Unsurprisingly, that means we’ve seen all of these votes on past year’s of the survey. They’re all relative longshots save for one, but for a number of different reasons.

Marvel has released these oversized omnibus editions for over a decade now, with a staggering amount of their most-popular material now covered in the format – from Silver Age debuts to modern classics. Is your favorite character or run of issues already in an Omnibus? My Marvel Omnibus & Oversized Hardcover Guide is the most comprehensive tool on the web for answering that question – it features every book, plus release dates, contents, and even breakdowns of $/page and what movies the books were released to support.

And now, it’s the omnibuses that placed at #25 through 21! [Read more…] about Marvel’s Most-Wanted Omnibuses of 2016 – #25 to 21

Moon Knight – The Definitive Collecting Guide & Reading Order

Updated June 20, 2026! The definitive, chronological, and up-to-date guide and trade reading order on collecting Moon Knight comic books via omnibuses, hardcovers, and trade paperback graphic novels. A part of Crushing Krisis’s Crushing Comics. Last updated June 2026 with titles scheduled for release through November 2026.

Moon Knight is Marvel’s distorted Bruce Wayne.

Moon Knight #11 page 22

Marc Spector is a willingly schizophrenic playboy millionaire, former military mercenary, and sometimes cab driver who avenges crime while tacitly under the command of an Egyptian god whose powers are both a blessing and a curse that deepens Spector’s insanity.

Did you get all that?

Basically, he’s every bit as unstable as a hero like Batman ought to be played, with the added bonus of multiple identities to explain away the shifts in his personalities cross different runs and creative teams. Plus, that means Moon Knight can never quite be sure he can believe the reality around him.

Moon Knight started out as a humble monster-hunter, introduced as an antagonist to Werewolf by Night. After a string of guest appearances, he graduated into his own title in 1980 and ran almost continuously until 1994.

Despite being a great fit for the extreme 90s, Moon Knight didn’t survive the mid-decade cull of Marvel’s smaller characters and all but disappeared for a decade aside from a pair of four-issue mini-series in 1998 and 1999.

When he returned in 2006, it was with a wink and a nod that he existed somewhere between Batman and Punisher – a vigilante all too happy to mete out his own form of justice in the form of extreme violence.

Since then, Moon Knight has gone from niche fan favorite, to a string of brief runs from high profile creators, to a multi-year run from writer Jed MacKay that has made him one of Marvel most-consistent (and most consistently top-selling) stars.
