Whoa, two weeks in a row? It’s true, Crushers – I’m back with a new X-Men guide for all Patrons of CK! This character’s core collections have been tracked on another longstanding Crushing Comics guide, but I felt like shoe-horning him into another guide did him a disservice. There wasn’t room for all of his guest-appearances, or to discuss the distinct periods of his continuity – from his modern classic introduction to his satisfying end. Plus, per usual, I couldn’t find any other guide who explained things the right way – not even Wikipedia! Thus, I bring you my brand new Guide to Old Man Logan!
New solo X-Men guides are available exclusively to Patrons for a very long time before they go public! Become a Patron of CK to gain instant access.
It was fine to leave Old Man Logan as a brief footnote in my Guide to Wolverine – Logan when we just had his original Mark Millar story – which was the case for the first five years of my Wolverine Guide!
However, once Brian Bendis delivered Old Man Logan into the present day via Secret Wars (2015), I’ve never loved the idea of his modern adventures being shoved into the main Logan guide. With 13 collected arcs to his name plus equally as many team appearances, it’s been clear to me for several years that Old Man Logan needed a guide of his own – which was emphasized when Marvel spun off several other books featuring the “Wastelanders” of his potential alternate future!

Next week is the 17th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics April 23 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics April 16 2025 new releases.
This week in Marvel Comics: One World vs. Doom, Avengers of Evil, X-Men vs. 3k, Predator stalks a Spider, X-Force ends, Rhino’s heart problems, Brock vs. Bushwacker, Epic best ever X-Men reprinted, Epic Ultimate X-Men (but just a lil’ bit), the least-wanted X-Men omni of all time, and more!
The Krisis Pick of the Week: There are no Star Wars comics out this week for a Marvel Zombie turned Marvel Hater to retreat to for my pick! What’s a confirmed hater to do? Luckily, this week actually has all of my favorite non-Ultimate Marvel books, so I have some choices! Since Avengers (2023) will be a One World Under Doom (2024) tie-in of unknown quality (and since One World kinda fell apart in issue #2), I’m going with Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) #3, which is building an engaging horrific mystery for the unholy alliance between Eddie Brock and the Carnage symbiote! More on that below.
This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics April 23 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.
This isn’t the typical comic releases post you can find on other sites. Why? I explain each collection and review every series with a new issue out this week. Plus, for every new release, I’ll point you to a personally-curated guide within the Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics to find out how to collect that title in full!
There’s no other website on the internet that can claim that.

Next week is the 3rd new comic book day of 2025! This post covers DC Comics January 15 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering DC Comics January 8 2025 new releases.
This week in DC Comics: Finest Supergirl, Millar’s Swamp Thing, Ridey’s Superstar Action, Grønbekk’s perfectly terse Catwoman, V & Cagle stun on New Gods, hunting The Question, and more!
The Krisis Pick of the Week: THIS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK. Seriously, at least five issues out from DC this week could be my pick of the whole month, as you will see based on my comments below. But, under extreme self-imposed duress, I’ll go with The New Gods (2024) #2. I’m trying not to overhype myself for where Ram V is taking the plot, but it’s impossible to hype myself up too much for more of Evan Cagle’s art colored by Francesco Segala.
This post includes every comic out from DC Comics January 15 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.

Blue Beetle Vol. 2: Forever Blue
(2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1779528599 / digital)
This collects Blue Beetle (2023) #7-11 to wrap up the series.
I went into this book with a lot of good will for a character who was new to me, but the storytelling never really cohered with the art. It was clear the book was a continuation of a prior run, with characters and plot and it assumed you’d already be familiar with them. But, you ought to be able to jump into any comic at a midway point and with this one I just never could get the hang of it.
If you want to read Blue Beetle, you should skip backwards to Blue Beetle: Graduation Day (2022) as a starting place.
DC Finest: Supergirl – The Girl of Steel (Supergirl Vol. 1)
(2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1779529909)
Supergirl makes her debut in the new DC Finest line of thick paperbacks that are roughly equivalent to Marvel Epic Collections (but a bit longer). This is the debut of Supergirl, starting from her 1959 Silver Age debut and collecting past the end of her first black-and-white Showcase collection (and a wider range of material than her Silver Age Omnibus, though that stretched a bit further into Action).
It includes Supergirl stories from Action Comics (1938) #252-288, Adventure Comics (1938) #278, Superman (1939) #139-140 & 144, Superboy (1949) #80, Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #14 & 20, and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen (1954) #40, 46, 51, & 57. It’s time to take a look at what’s out from Marvel Comics this week! This post covers Marvel Comics April 26 2023 releases.
This list includes every comic and digital comic out from Marvel this week, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats. For each new release, I’ll point you to the right Crushing Comics guide.

All-Out Avengers: Teachable Moments (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302947019 / digital)
See Guide to Avengers Flagship Titles (2010 – Present). This new “All-Out” brand for Marvel indicates an all-action series that is a non-stop five issue fight, here created by Derek Landy & Greg Land. The Landy-Land team continues to a new volume, Avengers Beyond, below.
Cosmic Ghost Rider by Donny Cates (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302949891 / digital)
See Guide to Ghost Rider. This paperbacks collects all of Donny Cates’s Cosmic Ghost Rider material, which is a subset of the material from the 2021 omnibus. However, there is really just one full CGR series in this collection – his first 2018 five-issue limited series. All the other material in this book are his debut in Thanos (2016) and guest-starring and team membership issues. Bottom line: This is the right buy if you’re a Cates fan or looking purely for origin material, otherwise you should buy the omnibus instead.
Deadpool & Cable Omnibus (2023 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302949921)
See Guide to Deadpool or Guide to Cable for this complete reprint of their 50-issue 2004 team-up series.
Fantastic Four by Millar & Hitch Omnibus (2023 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302949716 / digital)
See Guide to Fantastic Four. This omnibus fits directly prior to Jonathan Hickman’s run and pair of omnibuses. This run’s reputation tends to be overshadowed by Hickman, but there are some enjoyable big ideals here and I enjoy seeing Millar in his less-audacious mode when he’s not writing mature books.
Midnight Suns (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302947187 / digital TBA)
See Guide to Ghost Rider or Guide to Blade. This series featured a peculiar hodgepodge of a team of supernatural heroes… and Logan, with a cast of Magik, Wolverine, Blade, Spirit Rider, and Nico Minoru.
Thor Epic Collection Vol. 9: Even An Immortal Can Die (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302948689 / digital)
See Guide to Thor – The Odinson. This material has been covered in Masterworks and in bits and pieces across several old trades, but it has never been collected comprehensively in paperback before.
Strange, Vol. 2: The Doctor Strange of Death (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302946746 / digital)
See Guide to Doctor Strange. The second (and final) volume of Jed MacKay’s volume of Clea as the Sorcerer Supreme before the relaunch of Doctor Strange last month.
X-Terminators (2023 paperback, ISBN 978-1302946999 / digital)
See Guide to X-Men – The Age of Krakoa. Leah Williams takes Dazzler, Jubilee, Boom Boom, and Wolverine (X-23) on a high-action, high-comedy spin.
