Whoa, two weeks in a row? It’s true, Crushers – I’m back with a new X-Men guide for all Patrons of CK! This character’s core collections have been tracked on another longstanding Crushing Comics guide, but I felt like shoe-horning him into another guide did him a disservice. There wasn’t room for all of his guest-appearances, or to discuss the distinct periods of his continuity – from his modern classic introduction to his satisfying end. Plus, per usual, I couldn’t find any other guide who explained things the right way – not even Wikipedia! Thus, I bring you my brand new Guide to Old Man Logan!
New solo X-Men guides are available exclusively to Patrons for a very long time before they go public! Become a Patron of CK to gain instant access.
It was fine to leave Old Man Logan as a brief footnote in my Guide to Wolverine – Logan when we just had his original Mark Millar story – which was the case for the first five years of my Wolverine Guide!
However, once Brian Bendis delivered Old Man Logan into the present day via Secret Wars (2015), I’ve never loved the idea of his modern adventures being shoved into the main Logan guide. With 13 collected arcs to his name plus equally as many team appearances, it’s been clear to me for several years that Old Man Logan needed a guide of his own – which was emphasized when Marvel spun off several other books featuring the “Wastelanders” of his potential alternate future!

Next week is the 19th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers DC Comics May 7 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering DC Comics April 30 2025 new releases.
This week in DC Comics: Things get explosive for Birds of Prey, Absolute Braniac, New 52 omnis for Suicide Squad & Nightwing, Atom Project & Black Canary deliver their finales, Zdarsky’s final Batman collection, compact Kingdom Come, and more!
The Krisis Pick of the Week: Despite my heart beating faster just from thinking of reading Absolute Superman (2024) #7, this week I have to go with Birds of Prey (2023) #21 from Kelly Thompson, Sami Basri, Adriano Lucas, and Clayton Cowles! The script for issue #20 was nearly as good as the instant-classic script for #1, and the cliffhanger has had me wanting a follow-up all month long!
This post includes every comic out from DC Comics May 7 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.
A word of warning – despite overall loving DC’s output right now, this is probably my least-favorite release week slate from DC in each month. Buckle up for some ruthless reviews.
This isn’t the typical comic releases post you can find on other sites. Why? I explain each collection and review every in-continuity series with a new issue out this week. Plus, for most new releases, I’ll point you to a personally-curated guide within the Crushing Comics Guide to DC Comics to find out how to collect that title in full!
There’s no other website on the internet that can claim that.

Next week is the 16th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers DC Comics April 16 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering DC Comics April 9 2025 new releases.
This week in DC Comics: Superman Day kicks off the Summer of Superman, Absolute Rogues, Waid’s “We Are Yesterday” begins in the past, a Five Years Later reprint five years later, the sharp edges of Zatanna’s mystery, the Sonic League, conflicts explode in The New Gods, and more!
The Krisis Pick of the Week: There are a lot of heavyweight issues out this week that I considered. Last month, picking Detective Comics gave me a surefire winner because Taylor & Janin’s run has just been that damn good. And, I’m very tempted to pick Christopher Cantwell’s Challengers of the Unknown (2024) #5 (of 5… or 6). But, I’m going with Jamal Campbell’s Zatanna (2025) #3. Last issue was wildly entertaining and gave us terrific contrast from the debut issue. Plus, there’s no one else in comics who draws quite like Campbell.

Next week is the 10th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Image Comics March 5 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Image Comics February 26 2025 new releases.
This week in Image Comics: Horror on Hyde Street, the complete Hellspawn, penultimate Juvenile, Moon Man’s lost seven minutes, Redcoat collected, another batch of Monkey Money, Strange Girl’s anniversary, hardcover Fishflies and Savage Dragon, and more!
The Krisis Pick of the Week: This is a sparse week of Image for me – it’s full of books I don’t read or strongly dislike! I guess that means it might be a chance to play catchup, in which case my pick would be The Tin Can Society (2024) #6. The quality of non-Remender books from Rick Remender’s Giant Generator imprint have been surprisingly high, so this indie Iron man riff might be up my alley (and it’ll certainly be better than the current Iron Man (2024) run at Marvel!) But, I’m also eager to catch up on the collected edition of Convert (2024)! More on that, below.
